Space Marines are super overpowered and pretty overrepresented in 40k media currently. The focus of the game is on regular human characters instead of superhumans like Astartes, which I think is pretty cool.

Even in the grimdarkness of the Steam forums, there are still Space Marine fanboys that cry about and can't stand the fact that 99% of all Warhammer 40K media revolves around Space Marines instead of 150% of all Warhammer 40K media.

This game looks like the kinda thing i've been fantasizing about myself. Just a group of (mostly) regular soldiers in this giant, crazy universe.
Though it would be pretty fun if you could find a bolter or something that only the big guy could use, but it still takes away your health every time you shoot it because the recoil is ripping your muscles apart.
Other characters try to shoot it and it just instantly downs them

Then you're going to be super bored and probably shouldn't buy the game. Even on the store page it said it's built off of Vermintide, meaning it's likely going to be melee focused again. I feel like if it's just gun focused it's going to be boring as hell, at that point you might as well go play Deathwing.

If you were playing as a space marine and you were balanced to be as vulnerable as a guardsmen, it would be just plain old dumb and wrong.

So the game would have to be either all space marines, or what we're getting, no space marines.

I think the best chance of having a space marine in the game is by making a cosmetic set for the big guy in the group to look like a space marine.
