Progression Details?

Hello! I'm on the fence about buying this game, it seems right up my alley! There's one question that I can't find the answer to anywhere: what is the progression/metaprogression in this game?

Some reviews mention that your units can level up - does that mean they level up during the map, but after the map concludes they return to level 1? Or does that mean they level up in a way that continues across game modes? And if you level up certain units, does that mean that they are also leveled up when you are playing a match against those units?

Metaprogression is my favorite thing in tactics games, so whether or not I pick this up depends on how and if it is implemented. Thanks a ton!

The game is rather light overall on metaprogression - it's really a tactics game for tactics lovers (as opposed to many tactics games which are sort of RPGs first, tactics games second). That said, you'd probably enjoy CAMPAIGN MODE best, where you can level up your units, equip items, etc. It's about 8 missions long, usually takes about two hours to complete, but it's pretty fun I think!
