Prerequisite is that your controller is recognized by your OS and drivers installed (You can check this in Device Manager).
Steam has support for PS, Nintendo Switch and Xbox by default, but will also support various generic controllers. This you have to try and test yourself. If it works for ONE game, it will work for ANY OTHER GAME :)
1. Now, all you have to do is "right click" on a game in your Steam Library List you want to enable your controller for. Select "Properties".
2. Select "Controller" menu item from the right side of a pop up window.
3. For item "Override for <Game Name>" select "Enable Steam Input" from a drop down menu.
4. Steam will mark your controller with a BLUE DOT in a list bellow, if its connected and recognized and select it automatically for that game.
5. Optional: If you want to remap your controller input, select "Controller Configurator" link from that same page.
6. Steam will ask you to restart it.
7. Now you can start your game and play.
Sceenshots in OPs post up are to help you navigate these menu items.
This will work for any game, no matter if it supports controller natively or not.
To repeat: If it works for ONE game, it will work for ANY OTHER GAME :)
Cheers and have fun!
