Plants keep dying even when its not winter

Please can someone explain to me how farming/planting works? You are not supposed to plant during winter which is obvious (unless you plant indoors).
But i thought you can grow the plants outdoors in spring/summer/fall. But its spring, i planted the seeds and the plants keep on dying immediatelly.
Is there some kind of temperature limit and if yes what is the limit?
Or what am i doing wrong?

Has the season just changed over from winter to spring (still snow showing/water frozen), while in-game? If so use the bed to sleep a bit. Will align the season to the in-game. Save, log out, log in does the same thing.

there was no snow and the water was not frozen, but i noticed the temperatures were still a bit low and at night would get below zero. In next 2 days the temperatures were rising so i tried waiting until its above zero both in the day and in the night and then the plants started growing ok. So i guess the temperature limit is zero celsius. Which makes sense.

F key shows you the season you are in. I've never had anything die outside other than in the winter cycle. Moving any of the plant beds I'm sure will kill them too.

read again what i wrote. its not season based, its temperature based. i was in spring, but the temperatures at the begining were low enough for the plants to freeze when they got below zero. When temps risen a bit and were not going below zero, the plants started growing normally.

Yep, in very early spring, the temps can still get below zero and planted crops will die.
