Thank you for your work, I have a question: Where can I find rapids? I found one in my search, but it is so far away that I would have to build a new one

There are 36 rapids on the map, look near rivers. The majority of them are on the eastern part of the map where you see rivers. If your base is far away, just take the truck and add the mats to a chest and drive over. Your base can be far away and the watermill will still work and add power.

Very cool. One of the things on my wish list (and a few others).
Will they work all winter long?

It is written that the rapids do not freeze in winter, so they work in winter.

i saw a waterfall still flowing ,while all the lakes was frozen in the winter.

Installed the watermill today. Found some rapids in the north west just below a waterfall. The watermill works great. Be forewarned though. I uninstalled the beta because I heard there was a glitch in the beta where the trees don't respawn. So I followed what this poster said. Uninstalled the beta, saved the game in normal and reinstalled the beta. It worked, all the trees respawned but I lost my watermill, the $1000 it cost to unlock it. and all the supplies it took to build it. And I can't rebuild it or rebuy it. In the tech tree it says "TECH: Not obtained" and it is no longer available at the vendor. So it's completely gone! I wish they offered multiple save slots.

Semperfi, If you have the auto save feature turned on, you can revert back to a previous save. It holds the last 5 in memory. under "Backups"
