I have had problems with the character being just a little too close and interfering with placement.
Not really a bug. more of a broken cheat. (not that I'm complaining.) I think the intent was to make things "look" a little more real. I have attached a weapon rack on the roof of mine so I always have an axe, pick and spear. Also a place to put my jacket and pants as they take up WAY too many spaces in a crate.
I am not sure you guys are understanding (and I am sorry for not providing screen shots myself) but in the screen shot where Freake420 shows 4 chests in the bed of the truck, I cannot do that anymore. Forget stacking for a total of 12. I currently only have 6 total chests but that's beside the point. I only have room to place a single chest in the bed of the truck, no matter what way I spin the chest. I can only stack 2 more on top of it.
IE I cannot line the bed of the truck with chests.
You know what? I did attach the new plastic coolers and I did not try to remove those to see if that fixed it. I am going to try that next.
The plastic coolers are on either side of the wheel wells on the driver side of the truck, and those are the spots lined up with the bed, where I cannot place a chest.
To clarify, I had 9 chests in the bed of the truck, 3 across the bottom. I removed 3 of the chests, and was unable to place them back, so I then removed the 6 remaining chests, and tried to re-place them down 3 across on the bed, and found I could only place 1. At this time I had 1 chest in the bed, and the 2 plastic coolers on the driver side of the truck, one on either side of the wheel well.
I then stacked 2 more on the single chest in the bed, 2 chests on the side of the truck on the passenger side, and one on the roof of the cab of the truck, but that was glitchy, as I said it was flashing and if I did not time it right it would place under the truck. But I was finally able to go out and loot with the setup like this.
I will test removing the 2 plastic coolers, I dont know why I did not think to try that before now.
This something that i have noticed throughout my time playing, for instance if you stack 3 chests one on top of the other, and then want to place more next to it, then trying to stack them can be tedious has it will show red indicating it can`t be placed but moving it around then back to that spot then allows it to be placed.
But the more I think about it, if I had to trace it back to something specific, maybe mounting the plastic coolers, which I did not check or think about removing to test until today.
My truck was all loaded up normally, Started with 6 chests in the bed (one row of 3 on the bottom) and added 3 more for a total of 9 chests. Then added 2 coolers.
I removed a bottom chest at the end of the truck bed while running into a mine to get materials and could not place it back. Removed the other 2 on top and still could not place it back. Then removed all on flat ground and discovered I could only have a single stack of 3 in the bed. Bummer. But I never removed the damn plastic coolers to see if that was causing a collision issue.
A thought, make a spare cart with 2 chests, and a couple stone crates and leave it at the mine. Then we can run into the mine, fill the cart, unload into the truck, put the cart back in the mine.
great suggestion!!
Have fun, that is the end goal, learning or thinking of a new trick is good also. and it really does get hard to think of a new trick when stuck on a problem.
Our real life game group has this problem all the time. It took "the party" 4 hours to figure out how to get past a 10 foot tall electric fence. It was glorious to watch 6 people try to figure that out.
