[BUG] Crates on truck
Anyone come across an issue where you have boxes in the truck, but once you remove the box that is on the bottom, then the game will not let you place a box in the same spot again?

Currently the truck will only allow me to place one box (and I can stack on that box) toward the middle of the truck bed.

When I had the problem in the one spot, I then removed all the boxes in the bed of the truck, made sure I was on flat ground, and try to put them back, and I could only fit one box in a specific spot in the bed (toward the middle). If I tried up by the cab or toward the tailgate, it showed red and just one spot, big enough for one box was green.

I made it work with other boxes on the side.

Also when I tried to place a box on the top of the cab, the box flickered rapidly. If I timed it right I can place the box on the cab. If I timed it wrong, it went underneath the truck.

Yea the dev changed it so it is limited to where you can place them, because before it was op with the amount of boxes that would fit on it, Although Freake420 showed some screenshots on how he managed to fit more on the sides, will try and find the discussion.

Edit: here is the discussion where Freak420 posted screenshots.

Well, the truck is only supposed to hold 12 in the bed. If you are trying to put more on the truck, (sides, fenders, cab, bumper) your breaking the design and intent. If you have other boxes attached to places they are not supposed to, then that may be causing collisions between objects.
I have had problems with the character being just a little too close and interfering with placement.

Not really a bug. more of a broken cheat. (not that I'm complaining.) I think the intent was to make things "look" a little more real. I have attached a weapon rack on the roof of mine so I always have an axe, pick and spear. Also a place to put my jacket and pants as they take up WAY too many spaces in a crate.

I am not sure you guys are understanding (and I am sorry for not providing screen shots myself) but in the screen shot where Freake420 shows 4 chests in the bed of the truck, I cannot do that anymore. Forget stacking for a total of 12. I currently only have 6 total chests but that's beside the point. I only have room to place a single chest in the bed of the truck, no matter what way I spin the chest. I can only stack 2 more on top of it.

IE I cannot line the bed of the truck with chests.

You know what? I did attach the new plastic coolers and I did not try to remove those to see if that fixed it. I am going to try that next.

The plastic coolers are on either side of the wheel wells on the driver side of the truck, and those are the spots lined up with the bed, where I cannot place a chest.

To clarify, I had 9 chests in the bed of the truck, 3 across the bottom. I removed 3 of the chests, and was unable to place them back, so I then removed the 6 remaining chests, and tried to re-place them down 3 across on the bed, and found I could only place 1. At this time I had 1 chest in the bed, and the 2 plastic coolers on the driver side of the truck, one on either side of the wheel well.

I then stacked 2 more on the single chest in the bed, 2 chests on the side of the truck on the passenger side, and one on the roof of the cab of the truck, but that was glitchy, as I said it was flashing and if I did not time it right it would place under the truck. But I was finally able to go out and loot with the setup like this.

I will test removing the 2 plastic coolers, I dont know why I did not think to try that before now.

Properly placing chests on the truck is harder than it should be IMO. With that said, I assume snapping could be difficult to code since the truck bed can hold many different types of objects? I don't know

What i do when placing chests is stand on the cab and place first one down, then stand on that crate to place the next, and so on. being you only removed one and couldn`t put it back into same place, might not be a bug but how tight a fit it is that even slightly touching another object will stop it from placing.

This something that i have noticed throughout my time playing, for instance if you stack 3 chests one on top of the other, and then want to place more next to it, then trying to stack them can be tedious has it will show red indicating it can`t be placed but moving it around then back to that spot then allows it to be placed.

Yes for sure although prior to this bug I really didn't have an issue. Snapping would be very cool.

But the more I think about it, if I had to trace it back to something specific, maybe mounting the plastic coolers, which I did not check or think about removing to test until today.

My truck was all loaded up normally, Started with 6 chests in the bed (one row of 3 on the bottom) and added 3 more for a total of 9 chests. Then added 2 coolers.

I removed a bottom chest at the end of the truck bed while running into a mine to get materials and could not place it back. Removed the other 2 on top and still could not place it back. Then removed all on flat ground and discovered I could only have a single stack of 3 in the bed. Bummer. But I never removed the damn plastic coolers to see if that was causing a collision issue.

Yes taking a bottom/middle crate does not let me put it back either. I have gone to the point that once the truck has the crates, they never come off.
A thought, make a spare cart with 2 chests, and a couple stone crates and leave it at the mine. Then we can run into the mine, fill the cart, unload into the truck, put the cart back in the mine.

great suggestion!!

Sometimes you just have to nudge us a little more to "see" the problem.
Have fun, that is the end goal, learning or thinking of a new trick is good also. and it really does get hard to think of a new trick when stuck on a problem.

Our real life game group has this problem all the time. It took "the party" 4 hours to figure out how to get past a 10 foot tall electric fence. It was glorious to watch 6 people try to figure that out.
