Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Anyone know what order should I start prince of persia games in?
is it sands of time, forgotten sands, warrior within, two thrones? and where does the other prince of persia game come into the series, called price of persia

Hmm... More than a "spinoff", I should have rather called it a "expansion", since it adds more content to the original trilogy and happens in the middle of it.

The thing is, Forgotten Sands creates in the middle of the trilogy a new story that starts and ends in that game. If you play it after the trilogy, you will start the second game already knowing what happened between the first and the second one. If you play it after playing the trilogy, you won't feel like the trilogy is missing something though, as Forgotten Sands wraps its whole substory in that game. Let's call it "a secondary mission in the middle of the main mission".

(release order) Sands of Time -> Forgotten Sands -> Warrior Within -> Two Thrones
(chronological order) Sands of Time -> Warrior Within -> Two Thrones -> Forgotten Sands

I suggest the release order, as I said, but even if you want to go with the chronological order you wil be 100% fine. It's not even a big deal which order you choose.

Sands of Time -> Warrior Within -> Two Thrones -> Forgotten Sands.
PoP 2008 whenever you want.

Sands of Time, Warrior Withing and Two thrones are the original trilogy of the Sands of Time series that came out in the PS2 era. After that, they made PoP 2008 in the PS3 era, which is completely unrelated to the previous trilogy, and finally they made Forgotten Sands, which is the last made game of the Sands of Time series.

isnt int sands of time, then forgetten sands and after that warrior within and two thrones?, so the 2008 one isnt related to the pop series at all and is it considered a spin off or something?
https://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/605948-prince-of-persia-classic-trilogy-hd/answers/256344-order-of-games link to someone putting them in order , not sure about the other though but steam also says forgotten is the sequel to sands of time
If I remember correctly, chronologically there is a difference of about 10 years (in the story) between Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Forgotten Sands happens in between, but I think it wasn't too related to the overall story of the original trilogy, and playing the original trilogy first doesn't make it feel like there is something missing. And I also think it would feel a bit weird to play it in between the original trilogy, being a game from a different generation and such. My initial post was more of the order I recommend rather than the chronological order of the games.

And yes, think of the 2008 one as a completely different game that only shares the name of PoP. I'm not saying it's bad though.

so the order above is the correct one to play the story ? or does mine also work understanding the story? and ill play 2008 after the rest
Forgotten Sands was made long after the trilogy was done, the developers probably didn't even develop the trilogy thinking about fitting a new one in the middle of it 6 years later ("hey, should we made a cryptic 10 years gap between the first and the second game so 6 years later we can make a new game?").

Therefore, for me, the original trilogy is completely fine by itself, since Forgotten Sands was probably never planned to be a part of it, and Forgotten Sands feels like playing a spinoff (once again, I'm not saying that makes it a bad game). Can you play it between the original trilogy anyways? Yeah, without any problem, it's simply that for me I think it's better to play in the release order.

Here's the Wikipedia article for the franchise,[en.wikipedia.org] with a timeline of all the games.

This was the first result on Google for "Prince of Persia".

The Chronological order is Sands of Time - Forgotten Sands - Warrior Within. The Two Thrones takes place after the Warrior Within.

Whoops, I messed up the two orders and swapped them by mistake; as you say, the chronological order is the first one, and the second one is the release order.
