That sounds awesome!
When this releases, I'll get the game!
Been keeping an eye on this game for a long while now.
Or will we need to do so via the dedicated server tools?
Either way greatly looking forward to this!!!
Also will public servers add the option to fill the empty roster spots with bots until a player spawns into them?
Hey. Singleplayer support is planned eventually but going to be a lot of work, we are currently not working on it. Hower, before we implement singleplayer, we will re-design the current Bot-AI to make them smarter and able to do more. This will also include AI Commanders for the Commander Gamemode.
The All-Modes Servers already run bots for low playercounts. You can vote how many bots you want (or disable them) using public Polls by pressing ESC > Polls.
In the All-Modes Server you can now even take command over nearby friendly AI-Soldiers by giving the "Follow Me " command (f1 > f2) This way you can take command over up to 6 bots per player.
That's great to hear! Honestly the lack of an offline mode is what has kept me from buying this game, as my internet isn't really good enough to viably play online.
I know most developers don't usually like giving timetables or dates, but is this going to be something we can look forward to in the somewhat near future? ie: weeks, months, etc. Or is this kind of an afterthought that you guys will eventually get around to putting in a big patch a ways down the line?
Yea this game looks amazing and it's really disappointing not being able to play it as it is, especially considering that the bots already seem to exist and function. I know there's a somewhat convoluted workaround where you can download the server tools and host your own private match, but I feel like that kind of defeats the purpose of not playing online, since you'd still be limited by an unstable connection and have to deal with ping/latency issues all the same..
I know they've said it'll be implemented eventually, but the first time I saw them say that was over a year ago..
