Bot Match
Hi,

Have seen that there is no offline mode - however, are we able to host a bot match on a private server just for me / me and friends?

Thanks

do you actually need to rent a server for something like that or can i host this from my own pc?

if you set up the configuration file correctly and open the proper ports, you can host a server on your PC. Depending on the number of players/bots you want on your server, renting a server or a box might be better. The more players, the more CPU and data it uses.

Is there a how-to guide for this anywhere? This is one of the most attractive features of this game to me. I just can't find any good games with proper large-scale ai/bot matches.

I kinda wish there was a offline mode where you could just create big battles with the AI like Ravenfield. Oh well.

Perhaps try Angels Fall First as well? It has a bit dated gameplay mechanics BUT does allow for large scale bot battle hosting rather easily.

Tannenberg got good bot support. And very easy to setup.

If the devs did this I would buy this game....hopefully there will be a single player vs. all bots version of this forthcoming.

It's kind of mind boggling how this isn't a thing yet. Holdfast had that same problem and it was such a shame. Both of the games are incredible and well made but the decision to not at all accommodate or prioritize offline gameplay in either of them is really unfortunate and kind of self-limiting for their success.

I can only imagine just how much bigger the playerbase would be if we were given even just a basic, watered down singleplayer experience. Verdun and Tannenberg were absolutely on point with the decision to give people the option and they still sell decently well because of it. I think that a not-insignificant proportion of people who would be into these kinds of historical games would prefer not to be forced into the somewhat arcadey and typical aspects of online play
