Difficult to say if you'll like it.
The good part is - it doesn't play like a Souls game and a big reason why I tend to like the gameplay part of it.
Where the game is a lot faster overall and depending on how you're setup, less forgiving than FFXV.
The first playthrough, you may find overall a power structure easier to follow. With one of four difficulty settings: Story (Casual), Story, Action, and Hard. Hard would be if you're both into the masocore genre and plan to invest time into the mechanics to become the boss that other bosses fear.
Where the DLC, is a wilderness of possibilities that has left a number of players bewildered on where to go and how to get power. And the devs saw that players weren't seeing the path they set forth - so gave a few other options if you just want the story, test things, need a little boost to clear something, or do a lore-friendly roleplay through the rest of the story. And then players can turn off Extra Mode.
Edit: On the DLCs, it's also possible to overgear or over-stat on content and power through it in several possible ways. Where some may be less stress or effort compared to others once setup.
It's also not a souls like. It's got tight gameplay though that gets progressively harder. Also mixing and matching jobs is pretty fun.
The game doesn't have runes, amrita or anything to level up. This means if you die, you lose nothing and just start from the save as in usual games (but you keep equipment you got and job xp). You'll need job points and equipment, which both are not affected by dying
It falls under souls-like umbrella, that means difficult gameplay.
I cannot say if you have the skill level to enjoy the game. Personally I find the game relatively hard, though I'm enjoying the difficulty.
Lore-wise, it's very enjoyable for Dissidia/FF fans.
No it's completely different to Dark Souls in terms of combat.
It's souls-like which is different. If you know Nioh, it's like that, mixed with final fantasy (spells, MP, etc).
I play it on Hard and its okay. But there are 2 difficultis lower. If you have problems you can play it on easy.
And the fakt that this game has difficultis shows you thats not a realy souls like.
But yes some of the game mechanics are clearly inspired on souls like. Like bone Fire and useless shortcuts. But you don't lose your xp if you die.
When you have a friend you can play it nearly complet in coop
Probably not, this game actually requires some skill with it's combat. FFXV did not have much skill involved as it is just pressing one button with the occasional parry.
