Would say Alexander and Bahamut start to lose their flare as the stats get higher unless they're just perpetual blessings. Where Alexander, you'd have to parry point-blank. Where this is easier to pull off with the sword & shield with Shield Thrust, greatsword with enhanced guard and the counter moves, or trying to squeeze in buffs like the Samurai's job action and Liberator 120% to make the parry window easier.
Best a bit subjective and will depend on the playstyle:
Odin for HP damage builds, though for casters - does require that physical damage component first to apply.
Ifrit for the channeled or charged attacks for combo abilities.
And Ramuh for burst break damage builds.
Where I do love me a Sylph primary blessing for the mobility if I'd like to have a longer dance with the boss.
