Why.

They comission Limp Bizkit to write this song, use it for the infamous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scene, then never use it for the rest of the game.

All they had to do was make the fight against Chaos, or some of the post-game bosses where it'd make sense have this as background music. It'd be this game's Rules of Nature moment.

Why were they not more self aware?

They were so close to greatness.
