Level design is super repetitive tho, although the environments are varied from a visual standpoint.
Hey Link.
It depends.
And others will have seen me say this around - if you like fast-paced action gameplay, build crafting, trying out different combinations, and continue playing after credits - this game has you covered.
If you do like those things and are on the fence, would advise waiting for sale, but to also keep in mind that if you're looking to co-op with random players, you may find fewer people later on.
otherwise its just a decent game, what really lets it down tbh is the level design and slow story.
Game's great! Lot's of fun if you like involved, satisfying combat.
I would recommend going Hard and then take out party members if you want that extra bit of consistency and challenge (game balances it out).
The RPG elements are a bit intimidating at first, but they're there only for aesthetic and game feel on the first playthrough. It does get crazy in the post game (DLCs) where it becomes all about breaking the game, so if you like that in your RPGs, you're covered. You got lots of things to level up and optimize and you get lots of tools too get there.
The story is very hit or miss. Jack is funny, interesting and compelling, but he also carries the whole charade. If you typically play with ENG subs, then I suggest you give the dub a try. His VA does an excellent job at selling his bizarre extremes (turn on the effect subtitles too, you'll see why). The DLCs go balls deep into Dissidia canon, so the plot just kinda happens and the lore is nye incomprehensible (tho uncovering it all can be fun in itself lol).
The visuals and level design is pretty straightforward, an emphasis on the variety and pacing. The game knows combat is the core and avoids getting in your way with some quirks to make use of in a given scenario.
The performance is the game's biggest issue. This game is a lot more demanding than you'd think (stay away from the 120 mode unless you're cool with major slow down and turn off the screen space reflection setting).
