Bought the game! But...
I bought the base game. I'm wondering if I should spend the $10 for the DLC.
What I'm curious about is does buying the DLC add anything to the base games first playthrough?

If so, I'll buy it! But if not, I'll play through. beat the game and then grab the DLC.

Yeah its adds 2 weapons classes and 6 jobs you can play. However since only basic jobs are availaible in first playthrough, you will have to unlock the expert and advance jobs as you play, most of which won't be unlocked until you reach NG+ and onward.

If you want to play with guns or a with staves the DLC will let use them from the beginning (as you find them).

Most of the missions, endgame modes,...etc are all introduced AFTER the first player through, in NG+ and onward so you mainly get to experience new weapons, playstyles, and jobs if you start the game will all DLC.

Great answer, thank you!
I think I'll go ahead and play for maybe 5-10 hours, and if it's clicking for me and I'm enjoying it, I'll grab the DLC. It's on sale 'til the 13th, so I have plenty of time.

Considering this is from Team Ninja, and I put 400+ hours into Nioh 2, I have a good feeling about this game. Nioh 2 is one of my absolute favorite games.

Thank you for a great reply!

Oh Yeah, If you loved the deep build customization of Nioh then you will love SoP because it has just as much depth imo.

I can't speak for Nioh 2 but SOPFFO is literally just Nioh with a job system and a Final Fantasy setting. Like, Jack's death animation, double tapping a to roll, the animation where you finish climbing a ladder are literally ripped from Nioh.

I loved Nioh 1 and I'm really enjoying SOP so far. I think you'll love it.

Watch the trailers. If you like FF, i think you'll want to.

One of the new jobs allows you to summon and control Bahamut.

Not bad.

Yeah, I'm not a HUGE FF fan, but FF7:Remake was decent. really fun and deep-ish combat, but too much running around and story for me. I like just straight back to back action with great combat and music. AMAZING graphics aren't a big deal for me eaither. But I do like smooth character animation in combat.

OH! And Kingdom Hearts on the other hand was a ton of fun! Especially KH2. Those different forms you unlocked throughout the game were so freaking cool!

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll go ahead and buy the DLC. I just found $20 while doing laundry, so what the hell! HAHA
