Say what you will but this is up there with the top 3 worse ever FF games along with VI and X.
This doesn't make any sense.
Pretty much a glorious visual novel with a boss fights.
Everything else feels superficial.
Definitely an overhyped game.
elden ring was overhyped not this game
Pretty sure he's talking about FF16 (Not SoP) as he refers to it as a "visual novel" with boss fights.
I love how each FF game is self contained and mosty unrelated to others but always have the same themes going on.
My fav aspect are the summons. In FF XV i would always let my party down just to have that amazing summon theme kicking in (when the asteroid finally arrives, i wan to be listening Nox Divina)
But a thing that keeps me from playing older games is how the narrative takes so much precedence over gameplay to a detrimental point
I mean, its not cool when you build your party and then the game says : "Hey, i know you took time leveling and gearing up your party, but now you cant use them cause the story said so. Take those underleveled/geared characters you dont care and have fun for the next 4 hours"
I dont know if 16 is like that, but i played 9 and 7RE, and the constant back and fort of characters was annoying as hell
So, i'm really glad that SoP is all about gameplay, having one protag and just the neccessary amount of cutscenes and other non-intrusive narrative devices
But, how is FF16 in that regard ?
Coop is a cherry on top.
world design is click here on a map, run down hallway
FF games usually have a long story of a journey with characters you learn more about through the game. this had 5 people with amnesia talking about chaos and crystals and they abruptly ended the game so they slapped an ending to try and make everything make sense.
The party members are customizable and modestly competent in combat. Not Dragon's Dogma levels, but still far better than in average RPG. But they are fully playable in co-op only.
The OP's list is a bit flawed but the thread has still aged pretty nicely. For hardcore fans of the franchise, 16 must be one of the worst main series titles and entirely skippable because it lacks so many of the core features of the franchise. But for any gamer new to the franchise, it's an adequate entry point. Stranger of Paradise is still better though since it does much better job at bridging the gap between old and new games, besides all the other actual perks and features like co-op, party system, job system and recurring themes.
why the hell crystalized behemoth looks like nergigante from monster hunter lol , love these litle eaaster eggs
Post main story you have 2 more options on top of that.
It is quite the sight seeing Sophia brutalize bosses.
