Nioh's progression is a pretty free form, since you're mostly just putting points into stats to meet breakpoints for gear that you want to use. There's a diablo style gear grind, (which I personally don't like) with really REALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ granular stats, so if you're into storting through loot piles to tweak your build, it's got plenty of that.
I've only got about 10-ish hours in SoP so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but SoP doesn't have stamnia. Instead its combat is focused on managing your MP and your break bar. You have customizble movesets in SoP just like in nioh, but your combo enders all take MP instead of stamina. Your break bar meanwhile, is your defensive gauge. It goes down every time you guard, parry or soul guard an enemy's attack. Unlike stamnia, MP doesn't regen on its own, it only regens if you attack an enemy. The MP bar is also pretty weird. It's not a fixed value. Your mp bar's max value goes up every time you soul guard an enemy's attack. Think of a soul guard as a higher stakes block. It takes more of your meter to pull off, and if you ♥♥♥♥ it up, you eat ♥♥♥♥ and die, but if you succeed, you restore your mp and your bar goes up temporarily.
This all comes together to give the game an almost turn based rhythm. You can't be on the offensive all the time or you'll run out of mp. You need to stop and soul guard some attacks. Enemies in SoP also don't stagger nearly as much as they do in nioh 2. When they're going to attack, they're GOING to attack, so you need to be more on the ball with your defensive moves.
Progression in SoP has the same hyper granular diablo style gear, but instead of putting points into stats, you're leveling discrete classes. You can use 2 classes at once, and each class has access to certain weapons and abilities, which means that leveling is a bit more restrictive, but since each class has unique abilities, you have more of a distinct identity than in Nioh. If you're playing the game as a pugilist, you're going to be playing very differently than you would as a warrior or a mage, while in nioh, those differences are a lot more murky.
Both are pretty great games, so go for whichever one of those sounds more appealing to you.
everthing else is low budget . nioh 2 got sligtly bigger budget on enviroment
So make sure you take note of that at least. Wo Long (another team ninja game made by the b team/not nioh team) had the same issues, sadly. But Wo Long is an inferior game overall, tbh.
Aside from the optimization issues, SoP is quite fantastic and does it's combat justice and they did the job system and what not very, very well. Combat is satisfying.
but team ninja combat is always great and super polished . i like how they aplying dmc-mgr revengence -ninja gaiden like super polished combat on rpg mechanics
this game have insane build varriety while combat always will look great if you know what are you doing
wish they spend more budget on enviroment and level layouts . it feels like 3d jrpg from ps 2 visualy sometimes . but nioh suffers from same thing . nioh 2 got bigger budget on this
build varriety is insane how can you link moves and comands ,R2 abilitties is breath taking
game will punish you if you are passive just like nioh .
IT IS SO FUN. IT DOESNT GET OLD.
Get both eventually, as both are fun in their own ways.
Don't get Nioh if you want coop because they ruined the coop for that title by forcing you to do everything in single-player before you are allowed to do it in coop... with someone else who has already completed the same content in single-player.
Coop in Nioh serves only to allow people to relieve what they already did in single-player. This game lets you do just about everything except the opening tutorial and the walk around and talk to NPCs stuff in coop.
this game all the gear, job system and everything else gives you various options
nioh series gives you options but its meant to be very tough
heck the game can literally kill you off by falling some areas have cliffsides and spook portions or falling into water
atleast one boss can push you off a platform into death
nioh series you may be stuck on a level for awhile on most
this game seems like you can beat it in quicker time with allies in tow to help you handle the bosses and regular enemy's
nioh is an awesome series but its diff makes it pretty tough for those not ready
this game you can so far from what ive seen do pretty well with diff system and all the goodies you can find, job swapping and everything a large job/skill system
the simple this might be far easier for some
nioh series cranks up the diff a bit if your not use to its type of game
