In that, the Rift is still the way to go to find those. With the Ahriman and the Cactuar out to boost the unidentified item drop rate.
For item effects explicitly, if you're not fond of progressing the Rift further to increase the drop rates, then would say world map, the 5-boss boss rush red missions at Dragon Caves with Trials XI or the 4-boss boss rush mission at Ancient Chaos Shrine. (The Stymied Malboro is for when you cannot clear the XI bosses or boss rushes.)
And then after every 27 or so missions, refreshing the shop and combing through to see if there is a summon badge of the correct color or some IX and X item effects lurking around. (For anyone coming into the thread, the badges will not appear in the shop if your own personal rift is not at 201+. Can check the leaderboard to see what the game thinks your real highest floor cleared is.)
For most builds I can think of, you might only benefit from 3 perfect gear drops (2-handed weapon being one of them) and then there's nothing else that is so valuable to a build that you'd want a 4th, 5th, or 6th perfect base affinity drop.
And even then, you made it this far without the IX and X effects or perfect job affinity. And as far as the Rift is concerned, have tens of thousands more floors to go to try out other things along the way.
I have indeed both monsters deployed. So higher floors don't make it easier to get 190&/270% gear? What about malboro on XI Trials? Because I'm not gonna lie, I was extremely exhausted since rift void boss fights from 185 onward (there are been 3 void bosses with trials on dispelling buff maxed out, which made my lightbringer build to tank them completely useless, and God only knows how much it was painful to clear those, and by sheer luck after quitting and resetting the random bosses every time a freacking death machine pulled a middle finger on me).
I fear that the boss rushes on XI would kill me very bad, especially considering how trials on VII-VIII were becoming a nightmare, even more so when combined with enemies dispelling buffes maxed out, I wil ltry though, albeit I believe my build isn't strong enough to deal against them.
This is basically what I did in order to get most of the badges of the correct color, tons of shop exchange resets every 27 missions: out of all the badges I have, and after more or less 50 gilgamesh rifts since floor 205+, only two times he gave me a badge, which is utter BS drop rate if you ask me.
It's more about a completionist sort of thing: I'm trying to find 190 and 270% gear of every possible blessing, so that I can do all the possible builds, while triggering all the possible job affinity abilities (for example, on my support build I have 599% void knight, and that missing 1% prevents me to get the 600% job affinity passive, which I can fix with ahriman, but it doesn't work outside of rifts).
Speaking of builds, what kind of stats should I have to my main job in order to fully tackle on XI trials missions/rifts? I'm playing as a main summoner build and strength is the highest stat at 656 (physical attack is at 1045) while HP are about 5000 and stamina 265; since trials to XI will likely halve my hp, having only 2500 and with that low stamina, every boss on rifts kills me already with one shot outside of lightbringer, so I'm not sure how I would even survive on trials XI boss rushes.
To give more context, I use a Cyclic Warrior (Primal Warrior) as a support: I use it to apply all my debuffs, command abilities and maximize my bahamut blessing stats (the job action triggers lightbringer, which in turns triggers the soul shield effects), I then switch to summoner and leash out all the damage I can, while tanking with lightbringer any hits I suffer, then switch back to CW, reapply command abilities and lightbringer, switch back to summoner, rinse and repeat.
This is how I played until now and I managed to stay alive for the most part, but It seems that I cannot survive that much with my current stats.
I used to like the rifts, until some void rift bosses felt a bit overboard, especially since from what it seems to me, outside of lightbringer you get oneshot regardless of stats, so I really don't undestand how to tank with the aforementioned "enemy attacks deplete buffs" maxed out as usually 1-2 bosses attacks both completely remove all the buffs and especially lightbringer, giving almost no room to error, and making beating 5 of them a very hard and painful experience.
Which mission is that one?
Btw with my current build I'm indeed able to clear 180 tirals rank XI bosses so there's that, albeit I'm still unsure what is better between 205 rift floors or missions trial rank XI.
Also for my world map farming to get Manikin material, I just insta annihilate Chaos Marilith with close to max trials and get some gear from it in the process too.
Edit: Oh and also I use Dimension Bringer in rifts that have really annoying trials too. Forgot to mention that.
I've heard pretty often about breaker/zantetsuken build, how effective are those?
I also play strictly single player, so I dont' know how that could effect my game.
I use both lightbringer and dimensional bringer: primal warrior triggers lightbringer with its job ability, and then switch to dimensional bringer as soon I can dish out more damage, but sometimes it goes very bad with those remove buff trials and I lose it very quickly.
How much manikin does it gives chaos marilith? Because So far I'm using "the wanderer" mission to kill the two cactuar at the start of the stage, then go back to the cube in order to respawn them, rinse and reppeat; each cactuar should give about 500k manikin.
Takes about 2 minutes to complete, gives out 4-8 items, drops affinity capped ones often enough, just a matter of rolling right blessing.
I can't say that I've noticed a higher consistency in the 190% / 270% drop rates. A player that may be hanging out in the early thousands might be able to say.
The world map though tending to be on the lower side on job affinities though.

The good thing for world map trials don't need to be maxed out completely. Just to Trials XI (which Mission Level+ 180 being the bulk of that and that unfortunately highly favors big stats). And if you have Knightbringer going, you can ensure that the trials that negatively impact that don't get turned on. And then if there is room, avoiding Enemy Stats +40 so that bosses don't last longer.

For the stats, would say a main offensive stat of 900 puts you in a good spot for a boss fight that is under 1 minute on most jobs / weapons. Some jobs can naturally acquire these easier. While others might see start to see these numbers in the Rift instead. The jobs that tend to get Stamina and Spirit with their relics along the way are in a stronger position for surviving one or more hits without Knightbringer.
With the defender jobs, Marauder, Dark Knight (Abyss Knight), Berserker, Evoker, White Mage, Monk, and Cyclic Warrior being in a better position to build toward something sturdy without Knightbringer and still maintain a decent to strong offense. Even then, will need to be ready to guard, dodge, or soul shield magic attacks for a number of jobs built this way (e.g., Berserker, Monk, Cyclic Warrior in particular).
Most of other red, blue, and green jobs would have to make a sizeable deviation from their offense to survive hits regularly without Knightbringer. It might lead to boss fights that extend upward to 2~6 minutes a boss phase and in a boss rush. And may even lend itself to traditional play, but much faster paced than anything from earlier difficulties.
Ah that one, okay thanks!
How do you reach that high numbers? By focusing on a particular summoner blessing benefiting my job? Since my main class is a summoner I decided to go with bahamut as my main blessing to gain stats (i've read from your extremely helpful spreadsheet, balanced class like summoner and blue mage suffer a bit from eidolon stats) as that job has both melee and magic attacks, and the luck bonus helps as well, but I'm not sure anymore if I should instead focus on more melee focused summoner blessings such as odin and ifrit.
Mmmm I see, so at the end of the day lightbringer builds are the way to go/ the meta so far? Makes me kinda envious from the nioh 2 standpoint, as I like to run a yokai shift melee build, but in there you can't get 100% damage immunity as you can here.
Btw kinda OT but I there are two things that are really confusing me:
1# I noticed that some job affinity passives increase in potency based on the number of soul shield done up to twenty (600% knight stamina bonus, dimensionbringer), but there are some which seem to have the same effect, but the counter doesn't appear, I'm speaking mostly about the 600% breaker strength bonus and bahamut blessing (as I have those), for the first I see no buff active whatsoever, while for bahamut blessing I do see the icon, but without the counter. Is there a reason for this?
2# Does the Lightbriger duration special effect on sub job gear carry over to the main job the same way as buff duration or improve effect do?
The high numbers largely from relics and about a good 200 from the master points.
For example, a physical Summoner might lean toward Odin or a magical Summoner toward Ramuh.
And then for the world map Mission Level+ 180 being the least balanced , consideration for a stat heavy route (such as Breaker 600% on the physical or Black Mage 600% on the magical, but even pushing those job affinities even higher to get the extra stats. Though not every job can truly benefit from the 800% surplus of stats.)
#1) The 600% stat ones should have a counter with each successful soul shield, but the counter will only increase on the a job that has the 600% stat or Bahamut primary blessing.
There may still be a bug where if you change your gear or primary blessing in the middle of battle, the game may not let you increase your soul shield stack count. The buff should still appear as long as Negate All Armor Effects isn't on.
#2) Lightbringer Duration does indeed transfer over. Where the things that don't Paladin 250%, Berserker 400%, and Dragoon 400%.
I see, thanks!
Wait, so the counter should happear? Damn, because Ever since I crafted my gear with breaker affinity over 600%, I have still never saw any counter increasing for the breaker stat increasing. What about bahamut blessing, does that have a counter as well?
I have never changed piece mid battle though, so that shouldn't be an issue... I will try removing any piece of gear and equip them again to see if anything changes...
Ohhh awesome, thanks for confirming that!
It should be an icon separate from Dimension Bringer that increases with each successful soul shield.
Though the Battle Settings unfortunately do not reflect the increased stats (and short of using Cheat Engine or something comparable to see your actual Strength stat, a player wouldn't have known how much of a stat they were getting at 20 soul shield stacks.)
I'm honestly at loss of words: I tried removing the gear and equipping each piece again, the breaker affinity is over 1500% so I should be way above the requirement for the 600% on soul shield effect, and yet I can't still see the buff with its counter; the only one still triggering is the effect on soul burst which can stack up to 5 (the only ones showing are the knight 600% stamina x20 and bahamut blessing (without the counter).
I'm not sure if something has gone wrong with my game or if I'm simply doing something not correctly.
