Here's the Book Two Status

Edit: On 29 June 2024, the final chapter was released to most Patreon subscribers. No news on other releases yet.

I've seen a lot of folks (understandably)
wondering when Book 2 will be released. The developer confirmed in a Patreon post on 25 June 2023 that the chapter he is working on now is the final chapter.

From what I understand, this game is developed by basically one person. Which is impressive.

But here's the history of the chapter releases for those who are interested.

Book One Steam Release: 7 August 2020

Patreon Releases:

Chapter 8: 7 November 2020
Chapter 9: 21 April 2021
Chapter 10: 31 August 2021
Chapter 11: 12 March 2022
Chapter 12: 2 September 2022
Chapter 13: 26 February 2023
Chapter 14: 25 June 2023

Given this, there's a decent likelihood for the game to be complete this year. But, if it's like the previous game, the final chapter will have a lot of different options depending on the choices the player made earlier, so it will almost certainly take longer than the other chapters.

Thought this would give folks some decent insight into "Book 2's" progress so far.

EDIT 13 June 2023: As I stated below, the last dev update indicated the game is complete and is going through QA at the moment. Expectation is the week after next will be the release of the final chapter to Patreon subscribers. Don't know when Book 2 will come to Steam after that, but shouldn't be too long.

EDIT 25 June 2023: Chapter 14 was released to Patreon subscribers. It is NOT the final chapter. The developer stated, however, that the next chapter would be the final.

EDIT 9 March 2024: Latest chapter is up to 1856 renders and 119 animations. Compare that to Chapter 14 which was 626 renders and 26 animations.

Chapter 15 will be massive. No news on completion, but dev said he's shifting to integrating everything into the game proper, so it's getting close, I assume.

EDIT 13 April 2024:
PhillyGames stated the following:

"Not sure what else to say this week, just that we are on the final leg . . . So, yeah, it looks like May. . ."

This isn't a promise from the dev, just a guess as to timeline. If it stays on this course, May will likely be the release to testers, so I think we can realistically expect the final chapter out this summer. What this means for a Steam release is uncertain, but I doubt it'll be too long after that.

Update 18 May: Dev says next week he will prepare the build and send for QA when complete. Patron donations have been paused since last week.

Update 1 June: final chapter will be released for testing next week. There will be no update next week due to the dev's schedule.

if it does come out i still don't think i will buy another game from this developer i know he or she is one person and i can understand that what i don't get is why with all the time that went on cant they just do a post about whats happening does not have to be all the time it can be ever 8 months or longer just put out something on steam to say hey its still coming so people don't feel like they did not wast their money

Thanks for this. I was also wondering when the follow up was coming out.

I absolutely love this story and setting. So much so that I adapted it as a multiple session adventure path in my tabletop Shadowrun game that I GM for my friends. They really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to the continuation of the story. I also just recently completed Artemis, which was also great, but now I have to wait for that one too!!

As a follow-up - the final chapter should be released for QA in the next couple of weeks. What that means for a Book 2 on Steam, I can't say. But the game is almost done.

Honestly the BEST avn I've played so far! I like this one even more than BADik. The story line and script writing is superb in every way and everything flows well. This game could even be made into a movie!

ok ty. i have played a bit of this bf on the website a wile ago but i dint get far into it. i just have to wait a bit longer then i can get it on steam. its just waiting patiently in my wish list :)

This City of the broken dreams is one of the best AVN I ever played..... and I really am eager on playing it when it comes out.
I am patient in general but the book 2 better be REALLY good for this long waiting it better has great xxx scenes and also lots of great kinky stuff...

lol yeah i play for the great story line of these games but i think that normal VNs are really boring so i choose to play the AVNs. i love those a lot and the ones i play has excellent story lines and visuals i cant get enough of them :D i range from comedy to action to SIFI and also fantasy AVNs. i do how ever have one drama in my library called come home. does have a good story but i dont go in that direction of AVNs much. im not one for dramas at all.

I edited the main post to reflect this, but Chapter 14 has been released to Patron subscribers today (25 June 2023). However, it is NOT the final Chapter. Developer said the next chapter will be the last.
