Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Can't load into any mission
Hello everyone. I'm completely unable to play this game on my Linux Mint OS at this moment, and I'd like some help from anyone else that has any lead I could pursue to play this game. I'm sure I could just play some other version but I'd like to make this version work first if possible. Here's my problem :

Whenever I boot up the game, I have the solo/multiplayer launcher launch normally. If I select multiplayer, it crashed pretty much instantly, but I don't really care for the multiplayer. If I select solo play, the menu for the solo game boots up properly, I can access all the options in the menu normally. However, if I try to load a mission, be it Iceland or either training mission, as soon as the loading screen video ends, I get a very brief "Saving game" pop up before the game crashes and boots me back to desktop. No actual savefile is created despite the text. Here is what I tried to no avail:

-Launch the game unmodified
-Patch the game (1.01, 1.02, 1.02a, even the unofficial patch 1.03u)
-Install the Widescreen fix (Couldn't get it to work however)
-Add "-ll" as a launch option through steam properties, as it helped someone previously
-Change the values in SplinterCell4.ini and SplinterCell4User.ini so I'd have the correct resolution and FOV for my monitor (2560x1600) as well as do all the changes found in various guides to improve the look of the game
-Change which version of proton to use to run the game
-Check the integrity of the files
-Uninstall then reinstall the game from scratch
-Clear Steam's cache
-Restart steam
-Restart my computer

As well as various combinations of all these potential fixes, but nothing worked for me.
Here are my (relevant) specs :

As far as I can tell it might have either something to do with my CPU/GPU being AMD whereas the game is expecting an NVidia card for those, or the fact that the upon-first-start installer for PhysX doesn't work/the game doesn't recognize that I have PhysX installed because I'm on a Linux OS. Or maybe it's just proton mimicing a version of Windows that the game isn't compatible with, but I have no clue how I could look into any of these leads myself. If anyone has any idea on how to do that, or has any other lead I could pursue, or just has managed to run this game on a Linux PC/Steam Deck, I would love to hear from you, even if you see this thread long into the future. I was able to run this game on my previous Windows computer and never ran into any similar issue so I'm quite at a loss here. I quite miss playing this game, so even if I could just play the first mission I'd be happy. Thank you in advance!

Hi Captain Spaghet,

I'm sorry to hear you are unable to load into any missions.

As you are using Linux OS, I'm afraid we would be unable to help you troubleshoot this issue as the game is not officially supported to run on Linux OS.
Thank you for your reply, I understand there is no official support you can give me, but as I searched online, I found people that have managed to make this game work on a Steam deck and various other Linux-based distributions, and so I hope to hear from them, or anyone that has had my issue in the past and fixed it.

I understand, hopefully someone will respond and will be able to offer some troubleshooting that you can try.
