I put in the cd key steam provided me to play multiplayer with but it keeps saying its invalid...

when entering the key try using only the number 0 and never the letter O.
If that doesnt help get a free online key here http://www.gamestar.de/keys/doubleagent/
just click the image and you will have a unique key generated for yourself.
don't worry it has been around for years and it is legit. you cannot download the game anywhere with this key, but you can log into the multiplayer with it
