Issue: Buffer Overrun detected. How can I fix on Win8.1?

Hello Guys,

Every time I try to start a single player main campaign or a training mission, the preliminary cut scene appears but then the following error message appears

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer Overrun Detected

and the game crashes.

I have read that this can be fixed on Win 7 by checking on the compatibility mode of the "SplinterCell4.exe" executable the following check boxes: "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable Desktop Composition". However this check boxes do not appears on Win8.

Is there any way to fix this on Win 8?
