Can't Start Shanghai Mission
I have the latest 1.02a patch installed. I've had no crashes or anything up until this point. This isn't a crash but the Shanghai mission starts off with the cut scene and there's no sound. I can control the helicopter to correct it to land. After I land and Sam gets out I have no control. No mouse control to change the view or anything and no keyboard control, not even the pause menu will come up. I just have to force quit the game from the task manager. Any tips?

Reading this it seems that the 1.02a patch should fix this bug.
Maybe your patch didn't properly apply. Most people need to run the patch as administrator for it to work correctly. If you just run it normally there is a good chance that it will only pretend to patch your game. Even worse than that it will on future uses say that your version is already up to date while it isnt.
I recommend you go back to v1.00 by verifying the game cache on steam. Then download the v1.02a patch from here[patches.ubi.com] and run it as administrator.

Good luck

Thanks! I'll try that. Will this patch fix my saved game or will I have to restart the game?

Ran as an administrator but failed because it can't find the installation file. Moved the patch around to a lot of different folders but still nothing. How do I target the file?

hmm a friend of mine recently had the same problem where the patch wouldn't find the installed game after he restored it with steam to v1.00. seems like this is a bug.
He ended up reinstalling the game. What you could also try is downloading my back up of an unpatched SCDA_online.exe and replacing your own with it. I know you want to fix your singleplayer but as far as i know the patch targets the multiplayer executable.

The file goes into this location ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Splinter Cell - Double Agent\SCDA-Online\System
You will have to rename it to "SCDA_online.exe" so that it overwrites the existing file. Afterwards try to run the patch again.

I would like to post the link here {LINK REMOVED}.
But it seems like steam doesn't like mediafire =/
I'll take out some of the dots to post it. you'll have to put them in again yourself.
www mediafire com/file/ie93xlaqg4tgeu5/SCDA_Online1-0.exe

Ok, finally got it running correctly. Hopefully, it sticks. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Before even playing I tried installing the patch as an admin but I got the same error message about not finding the folder. Launched anyways and the level worked fine thankfully. Played a bit to make sure and then quit to try the patch again. Installed as an admin and it worked this time. Started the game and worked as normal again. Looks like it was just a bad install from the get go I'm guessing. Now only if I can figure out how to get Conviction to work, that game won't even launch on PC or Mac. Don't think I'll ever get another Ubisoft game on PC. Thanks again for the help!
