Nice graphics thanks to Unreal Engine, but that is probably the only interesting thing about this game.

EDIT: I actually found something interesting and funny about this game what keeps me forward. I started to look for holes in invisible walls so I could skip parts of the level with shortcuts through the hills. Game crashed after 4th act and I am unable to continue tho...

- The game is just a corridor of various roads
- you can't get anywhere with the car without many investments into upgrades
- which means you will repeat and repeat and repeat the road so you can pick up parts all over again and again and again
- The game is repetitive representation of boredom, exponentially multiplied by lenghty animation for picking up things
- Zombie AI is bad
- Driving is bad
- You can't get into areas when fun could be, but there are invisible walls
- You can't choose a vehicle
- Only one animation for melee kill

Imagine anything about this game in your head, now make it worse. That's Road Z : The Last Drive.

The only game I completed 100% of the achievements on, in under 4 hours, which 1 hour was probably my game idling in steam.

You are better off going onto Kongregate.com and playing one of many flash games that are like this, but they are free and a lot better.

Driving over Zombies is always a good things, but being able to upgrade is the only way to advance in Road Z. Road Z is a linear game that you must go from checkpoint to checkpoint in order to advance. However you will need to upgrade in order to do so using hardware points. While that isn't a bad thing, it surely makes the game very repetitive to say the least. However, the nice eye candy and smooth game-play make for a worth wild ride.

The only things that I found truly annoying where the fact that when you move to the next level all your prior upgrades and car are gone and you must start fresh making it more repetitive. I also found driving the car to be rather annoying when going into turns, as you use the mouse to move the screen and the WASD keys to drive the car... I found this makes it like a double steering system... But that will not detour me from playing more!

If you are interested in the game, I would suggest looking for some online game-play and or just wait till it goes on sale as it surely will... LOL

You know what? I love it with all its glitches. It's a fun game with a fun grind.

However if you wan't to read few things about the game rather than watching the video, then here are few words about the game.
Concept is cool, graphics are decent, but that's where the good things end. Sound effects are basically non existing, physics are terrible and content is nearly non existing. Even tho there's basic looting, you can only loot for parts that are needed to upgrade the car.

It's round based, when you start, you will run out of fuel within 30 seconds from start and round is over. You have to upgrade your car and you can only drive one car. It's NOT open world, not even close to it. It's fixed road from A to B. During entire "story line" you will switch through 5 cars (or maybe it was 6) and you have to upgrade each car over and over.

If I was gonna recommend this game, it would require a LOT more work. It has to be open world, sound effects have to be a lot better, looting has to be better, physics need improving (car keeps flying and bouncing way too much).

I can see potential in this thing, IF developers would find the motivation to do it. I'd like to play open world zombie road kill game, would be quite cool, but it has to be consistent. Something similar to State of Decay 2, where you can leave your cars anywhere and they won't disappear, you can upgrade them and stuff. Basically a hybrid of GTA 5 and Carmageddon. But well one can dream .. i don't think this game will ever get any better. I'm being as honest as I can here.

In Road Z Last Drive your goal is to drive through four checkpoints the last being a hangar that leads you to the next level. In order to make it to the first checkpoint you need to have enough gas and armour. What does that mean it means you will have to start over the same road to get enough hardware lying around that gives you 15-25 hardware points and running over zombies only gives you 3. The vehicle's upgrade includes machine gun, flamethrower, motor upgrade, gas upgrade and nitro upgrade. The main character has a knife. This is a very basic Indie game and I give it a 6/10 mixed review. I personally would wait for a bigger sale but if you bought some tesla stock go ahead.

Apparently I'm one of only 2% of people who have stuck with this game to make it through the 2nd stage (4 stages total). For 4Gb worth of content, there really isn't much to this game. The driving is fun, and so is upgrading the cars, but it honestly feels like it should be part of a bigger game. If this were a full RPG with the ability to drive around too. I would love it...however as it stands, it has to little content, way to much grind for what little content there is and I'm left with the feeling that this could be so much better if there were just ...more to it

ok games so so hardware gains way to stingy, killing zombies should yeild double what it currently does. zombies shouldnt damage your car as bad as it does other then that its fun to kill a little bit of time, how ever if your thinking this game has more to it then that it dont. its just drive and restart the stage over and over till you eventually buy enough upgrades to make it to the next checkpoint.

Driving through hoards of zombies should be impossible to screw up, but somehow Road Z: The Last Drive failed to deliver.

If you want to see this mess for yourself, watch my video. What we have is an arcade-style game of driving through stages, failing, and spending points on upgrades to try again. That's a fine idea, except that you *need* to upgrade gas multiple times just to be able to finish stages. And Armor's a good idea while you're at it. So you won't be unlocking the turret or flamethrower because you want to just be able to complete a stage. Did I mention that your weapons get used automatically and you have no control over them? Maybe you want to try hoofing it on foot searching for some parts to upgrade with. Well, that's essentially a waste of time, but go for that incredibly boring and pointless part of the game if you want.

I hate to tear apart a game in a review, but a recent Game Maker's Toolkit video talked about following the fun. The fun in this game is driving through zombies. The idea of being on foot should have been removed from the game. Needing to buy gas upgrades should have been removed from the game. Being able to control your weapons would have been fun and allowed tactics. After all, there are several choke points where you need to drive straight through. A controlled turret fire to clear the way would have felt satisfying. There are also several spots where you have to slow down to navigate around obstacles. If the flamethrower was controllable, it would feel great in that situation. Instead, we're left with a frustrating game that should have been entertaining by default.

Driving through hoards of zombies is a great premise, and hopefully we'll see a future game deliver on it in the way that Road Z: The Last Drive failed to.
