Send a Constructor to the far side of a gate build a military Star Base and buff it as much as you can and then put at least 1 warship in each of the other hexes with access to the gate. As long as you are not at war probes can be used to block access.
Do not set your blockade on your side as the AI will send one of their probes or other ship down the lane and park it at the entrance and you can not use it your self unless you go to war or trade for it.
If there are other AI in your sector you would need to block both ends or the AI will park a ship on it
Only one constructor is needed on the far side being best
are there any less rudimentary solutions to this like a treaty or a special type of blockade ship
