Retrofitting ships to an updated design

There is a tech called Starship Refits in the military tree. Pretty early in the tree as well. Once you get that you can select a ship or fleet and should be an icon that looks like a ship with a + next to it that allows you to update them. Keep in mind this isnt free so dont run yourself out of credits or resources upgrading

Sound advice. It's so easy to go on an upgrade spree only to go flat broke. It's not like I did anything like that... really.
