How do i unlock more?
I am really confused on how to unlock more. My progress screen shows a crown with a 5 and below it says i am Level 7. After i finish a game it says i unlocked Russia but when i start skirmish it is still locked. Also i can not select a higher difficulty than normal. Is this a bug or how do i progress?

OK I figured it out. The game needs an active internet connection, without it you can not unlock anything.

Really bad design choice if you ask me, I am not interested in any of the multiplayer stuff so I should not be needing an internet connection to unlock nations and ai difficulty levels.

If you're playing offline your progress is still saved - right now the unlocks won't occur until you go back online, though. It wouldn't be too bad to adjust things so that's not the case - honestly, this is the first I've heard of it being an issue though. Anyone else please chime in if this has been the source of any frustration for you.

I understand, i just don't like that the single player part of the game is locked behind needing an internet connection to unlock the nations/difficulty levels. I know it unlocks as soon as i go back online but that should not be a condition. The game also becomes useless for single player if the servers get shut down one day.

Have posted this at least twice, on other threads : I resent that I have to unlock factions ("races") simply to play alone in skirmishes. Do not have the time to "work" in order to unlock more factions. Consequently, I have lost interest in this game because of the very limited number of factions available in solo skirmishes. I also resent that developers impose arbitrary limitations, so that paying customers have to jump hoops according to arbitrary dictats. Is it too much to ask that all factions be unlocked for solo skirmishes? Consequently, having lost interest, don't expect me to buy any DLC. Am a paying customer, not a complacent seal who wants to be trained. Many customers on Steam own many games that they can play : why expect that they have the time to "toil" in one specific (minor) game?!

I don't mind the unlocking it took me only a couple hours to do so, but to require a internet connection to unlock single player content is terrible and really bad for game preservation if one day there are no servers anymore.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Hey do you mind putting something about this on the store page? Because my personal take-away after buying this, playing for 3.6 hours, and then discovering this issue, is that I got scammed. I don't mind supporting early access games, but I expect them to be honestly presented and to allow me an informed choice of what I get.

E.g. in the system requirements "broadband internet connection" is listed, but it is a usual safe assumption that such a requirement only apply to multiplayer, if you changed it to "broadband internet connection required for singleplayer progress and multiplayer" that would be more honest

Update. Repeat. Am not playing the game anymore because of all those locked factions in solo skirmishes. Will not spend one more $ on this game (DLC) if the devs do not unlock all factions for solo skirmish mode. I simply do not have the time to "work" on a game : paid for it, so I want all of its content.

well, sir, you have the full game. unlocking things via gameplay is how games should be. not this wallet warrior nonsense you pod people love so much.

devs please remove the online only crap that you have tied the unlocks to.
