If you're having issues where it's in "offline" mode when launched with Proton, try switching to Experimental. Several users have reported this fixed it.

Why can't the victory conditions in single-player be set to defeat all opponents, and why limit the player's enthusiasm to conquer other factions with 150 points?

Issue on Ubuntu (22 LTS, 64-bit, Proton Experimental):

I'm using a dual-screen setup. Game opens on second monitor (all good, Ubuntu tends to open things there), but when moving the (windowed-mode) game window to the primary monitor no clicks are registered in the game window. Frame can be moved as normal, but no buttons can be pressed. If the game window is moved so that it straddles both screens, the section on the secondary monitor is clickable, but the section on the primary monitor isn't.

Have you encountered this in any other games? Don't believe I'm doing anything unusual with mouse inputs. One possibility would be to try disabling Steam Input for the game - it's possible that's muddling things.

I haven't tried it for myself with Hexarchy but I'm pretty sure the dual-screen issue has happened to me in other games with Proton. I feel like it's probably a Proton issue.
