It's an action RPG where you get your stats from farming rice and major buffs from food.
There is a decent amount of player skill that can be used but most of it isn't strictly required since you can also grind an extra harvest or two worth of stats and overwhelm enemies that way.
While you could in theory go through some places (especially night version of areas) earlier than your stats allow, the fights become lengthy and a single mistake can cost you most of your health if not all of it due to the stats differences.
Basically, stats play a much bigger role in this game than in the ones you mentionned.
The combat can still be enjoyable, but "hard" wouldn't be a good word to qualify it.
Darn.
A bit different but the recent monster hunter (world and rise) might also fit.
You probably already know about those though.
I am not playing another souls-like unless they truly change up the formula.
Souls games are retarded roll and attack formula games. Very boring if you sit down to think about it. I'm only playing them because there is no other formula on the market.
Lol, well there's plenty of Character Action games to enjoy.
