Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

Couple of questions
Ok so I guess I'm upto the part where two of the villagers are missing.

But I got some questions.

1. How to like get consistent natural healing? Is there a way to like instant heal or something like..idk potions?

2. Sakuna keeps saying "we haven't grown enough crops" or something that sounds negative. Is there a way to make that as a positive?

3. Should I always go for white rice or is brown rice as good?

4. The game has an option to ask someone to do some stuff. Is it better that I do it or it doesn't make any difference?

For the healing, outside of the "natural healing" bonus on food that heals you out of combat there are two bonuses you can slot in your gear as well as one rainment and one skill.

The two bonuses heal when defeating an enemy for one (up to 7% per kill I think) and when clearing a group for the other (up to 50% of your max HP healed in one go).

The combat skill is mirror of purification, starting from level 2 it heals a percentage of your max health.
The healing is raised at levels 4, 6, 8 and every level from 10 to 15, reaching 25% at the end.

The rainment skill is soul transfer, it's a bit tricky to use like most rainment skills since the enemy has to be off-balance (except for flying enemies and the rabbits).
It can be decent in boss fights if you are decent at parrying (or spam rising carp of course) but it doesn't heal all that much per use.

Both the combat and rainment skills are near the end of the list so you only get them when your rice's stats are pretty high, so keep working on growing your rice well and you will get them soon enough if you don't have them yet.

I don't remember that, maybe it is when you didn't grow enough to eat rice every day for the following year?
If so, growing it for yield and filling more exploration boxes from each areas will help (the later unlocks more of the fields that you don't work yourself).

White rice increases your permanent stats more and is worth more for trading (you shouldn't have access to that just yet but still), brown rice is "only" good for food bonuses.
Ideally you would want to do white rice all the time at least until you can get really big harvests in the hundreds, doing a single brown rice harvest at that point would give you enough to get good food bonuses for a decent amount of years, especially if you focused on yield that year (since stat growth would be lower anyway).
In theory, you could go for yield and brown rice earlier too but permanent stats tend to do more for you in the early and mid game.

They do a very half-hearted job so it's better for you to do it yourself.
If you wear the hat that increases farming exp when doing anything farming-related, you should get skills that will help you quite a bit each step of the way.

Ok so how do I get these two bonuses?

Retribution (the healing for defeating a whole group) is from the multi-stage at the end of the water area (which should be the set of zones you are starting if you are missing the big dude and the baby).
Life drain (the healing from each kill) doesn't seem to be from an area so it's probably one of those you find on the farm as your rice gets better (not sure exactly what causes them to pop up since unlike skills it doesn't tell you the ones you can get soon).

I can't find retribution yet. Which level is it in specifically?

I don't remember the name but it's the one where the zone's circle is in red, just like the last zone of the forest where you found the torii gates for the first time.

I do believe there's 1 specific stat in which you want to make Brown Rice instead of White, and that's the Aroma stat related to Magic. If I remember right, the Farming tips for Aroma mention that the rice needs to be brown for a bigger stat boost in that specific stat.

Oh, that would explain why my 2-3 years worth of aroma focus got me less than initially expected, good to know.
