is the english dub any good?
just started playing, wondering if i should do dub or sub, usually i can enjoy dubs when its like a comedy anime but anything with a serious tone is just downright cringey on dubs

the game doesnt take itself seriously whatsoeever.
the intro has the drunk princess stumbling into frame.

the translation is fine, I'm not sure why ppl get so upset
as for the dub, idk. but I;d imagine it's on par with the senran titles.

seconding all dubs are cringe
Ignore the extremely obvious trolls.

The dub is fine. Very cartoonish but that's also the Japanese so it's intentional.

The dub sounds ok. but the Japanese voice acting is better.

Can you understand Japanese?
If not I would just use the dub.
Don't fall for the outdated peer pressure of "dub bad, sub is pure", the quality of dub is not only on the rise, but Japanese voice acting is not even that good to begin with. People just tend not to notice because they are not fluent.

Ironically, there's also some in Japan thinking original language voice acting is better, Jpn dub sucks. Anyway I prefer it wholly dubbed, whatever language the original game is in, if I can cuz I don't need to take my time to read the sub to catch the conversation or something.

The English dub is ok but the Japanese VA sounds way better, especially Sakuna VA Naomi Ōzora.
I knew I heard her from somewhere since she also stars in Chio-chan no Tsūgakuro (Chio's School Road) as Chio. Also, Hana Uzaki from Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!

Myrthe's Japanese VA sounds more authentic as a foreigner.

I don't think it's an issue of the original being good or better.
I would say that you should go with anything really, it doesn't usually matter.

But in games like Sakuna, Okami or even stuff like the intro in Monster Hunter Rise(When they present a monster) and heaaaavily use accents, the dub simply feels like an entirely different product and it does change the context.

I also noticed this issue happens mostly with people who can speak more than 2 languages (one from the west and an Asian one like Korean, Japanese, Thai or Chinese).

have you watched attack on titan in sub? the VA that plays Erin does screams of rage wayyyyy better than the dub. i thought AOT dub was atrocious in english dub like completely changes the way i view the series. so much more emotion in the original japanese sub
