Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Game breaking glitch?
So i boughed this game from Steam, 'cause its one of my favorites. And in the second mission Defense Ministry, right after the 2 soldiers have a conversation over the radio about retinal scanners and that only colonels can access them, i have to climb a ledge to the next window . When i reach the half point, from nowhere Lambert says the "One alarm too many" thing and i get a mission failed status. Every Time in the Same Spot, right halfway on that ledge. I restarted the mission and the same thing happenes. Do i have to make a new profile, to restart the whole game? What should i do Steam? :(

I'm pretty sure at certain checkpoints, the game scans the level to check for things that would cause alarm, like bodies lying in the open. Make sure you clean up after yourself, and try again. Hope this helps!

Nope, is not that, i'm pretty sure. The whole lvel is dead behind me. No cameras and no guards, they are all dead. And i can wait on that lende for a a long time. When i reach the halfway point, that exact pixel, the mission fails, it says i triggered too many alarms. It is clearley a glitch. I restarted the level, the same exact spot, same exact glitch. I made a new profile and restarted the game, the same exact spot, the same exact glitch. I completely reinstalled the game, the same exact spot, same exact glitch. i know this starts to sound repetative and frustrating, but that is exactley the way i feel. This glitch is game breaking. I hope I'm not alone on this because if i am i am never gonna get it fix. Hope Steam Support can help me an this. Thanks for posting anyway. Have a good day.

I have some other solutions, before the glitch, hit F2 to bring up the console, type in "misson win" - without quotes of course. I just tested that and it seems to 'win' the mission but it didnt load the new level. So if that doesn't work go to here:

http://www.savemygame.fr/en/View-details/S/285-PC-Splinter-Cell_by_Savemygame.html

Download and extract the save game, the Jens folder. Take that and put it your save game folder for splinter cell. The path should be something like:
\Users\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\common\SplinterCell\Saves\

(Sorry I don't actually have the steam version installed, I have the disk version. So I just guess that the path would be, hopefully its right.)

Then load that profile and play mission 4.

Also you should try playing Splinter Cell, completly sleathy, no killed, no K.O, no shooting, unless you have too.

Ok i found the problem. You will not believe this, or maybe you will. For start, except for the first times, i always played Splinter Cell as a Ghost. Just the necesary K.O.s. This time i just went for a semi-stelthy gameplay. I did not killed enybody, just shot the cameras and ko the guards. (the whole level was dead behind me earlier to see if anything changes). Here's the bug. At that specific moment on the ledge, the halfway point, when i reach that pixel, if there is any body on the map, dead or unconscious, besides the Driver which is obligatory, it will register as found, for reason unknown, and the mission fails. I noticed that after Lambert says Mission Over, a brief message apears and says "A Body Was Found", but ther was NOBODY there to find it, sao i said to myself: maybe if there is no body on the map, the game can't register them as found, cause they don't exist. I had doubts because i still had to ko the Driver. But i ghosted the level, knocking out just the driver, and i passed the halfway point on the ledge, finally, and reached the kitchen. I think it is a bug though, i remember playing the game the same way on the same difficulty and not encounter this problem. Thanks for helping, glad i sort it out. And sorry for my english, i'm fforeign =) Have a good day. :)

This is one tought level, Was playing it earlier. Even if everything is dead and broken behind you, the game itself still scans the level to make sure all bodies are in the dark at checkpoints.

let me get back to you on this.

Your problem sounds like it is the result of you not hiding bodies. Just because everyone is dead does not mean that everything is safe for your. The game randomly scans the world for unhid bodies and other evidence, and if it finds somehting (ex. a body left in bright light) then an alarm will be raised. These scans happen usually when rendereing a new area (hence the checkpoints), so just be sure that you've cleaned up behind you. It is a stealth game afterall, and the point is to make sure that no one knows you were ever there.

Sounds like you are right. I had no idea about the ramdom scans. This thing also did not happen when rendering a new area, it happened in the mids of the game. I went for a Rambo playtrough this time around just for fun, i have always played this game stealthy. Back in the day i also used to rambo in it, and i don't recall the scans happen. Guess i don't remember it pretty well. At least the game is as fun as i remember it. Glad is not broken =))

Thanks for the feedback, have a good day. :)

sorry for the mistakes, i have no time to grammer check.

apparently my version still has some major bugs. character animations don't work properly, lights effects not working to well, guards getting alerted by nothing, without seing me, and there is a part where i have to take down 3 guards in the Chinese Embassy mission, so they don't destroy a computer. if i don't grab the lastone and knock him down with a fist (as opposed to a stickey shocker) it says that i am too late and the computer is destroyed, when it clearly isn't. so yha very frustrateing... to top it off, a guy running on the exact machine as i do, got it from a torrent site, AND IT WORKS PROPERLY. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pirates i know, it ruined my day to hear they are releasing the game in a better shape than steam.

it mey not be steams fault here, cause fo you guys it works good, right?

It worked fine for me, no problems at all. What are your system specs?
DorianBlackberg Jan 13, 2013 @ 12:57pm
intel pentiume 4
ati raedon x1550 graphic card
2gb ram
windows xp

the pc is ancient i know, but so is the game. should work fine, last time i played it a few years back it worked fine. don't know. i will go trough the game like this, it is a challenge nontheless but also a frustration.
