I turned off my multi-monitor display and changed my settings to only use one monitor. Now the game works for me no problem.
Maybe this will work for you guys (if you're still interested in giving this game a try).
That solves the fault. You will get very choppy videos but the game will run.
Haven't played much so i don't know if there will be other problems with the game working on a new copmputer.
You will find the splintercell.exe under programs/velve...
This is how my way to the file looks like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\Splinter Cell\system
I tried to play this game with this fix about two years ago with no issues at all, but this week I installed it again for fun, and suddenly a "general protection fault" error started occurring randomly.
I spent some time tweaking my BIOS settings since there have been reports of instability with 13th and 14th-gen CPUs—I thought it was my CPU. However, the problem persisted.
Then I recalled how, when I was playing GTA SA on Windows 10, you needed to set the CPU affinity to only 1–2 cores for it to run normally. While checking Task Manager's Details tab for Splinter Cell 1, I stumbled upon the "UAC Virtualization" option. I didn’t know what it was, but I unchecked it as well. After that, Sam Fisher moved, killed, and died smoothly without any interruptions.
I’m not sure whether it was the affinity setting or disabling UAC Virtualization that fixed it, but I recommend anyone facing this kind of frustration try these two steps—they're not difficult at all.
