Is there controller support for Splinter Cell?
I apologize if this question is repetitive in the forum, it is my first time here. Basically I want to know if there's controller support for this game (Either Xbox One/PS4). I don't care if I have to nagivate the menus with keyboard and mouse, I really only care if I can play the game with a controller. I found that adjusting speed with the mouse wheel feels off, and I just dont like it. Thanks in advance.

I couldn't get it to work in the 1 mission I used 3 at a time. It was find with the keyboard but I'm hunt and peck, (must take eyes off screen) and timing is/was paramount in controlling the 3 BGs in the Bath house boiler room

no, I'd probably get used to using the keyboard and mouse it'll be beneficial to you in the long run.

I disagree. The game's mechanics are built around using a controller. I don't know how people dont find it awkward to use the mouse wheel to control speed.

Appreciate your answer. I guess i'd have to do with a keyboard... or just get an xbox and buy it through backwards compatibility.

1. My fault, apparently I didn't make it clear in my 1st post I was talking about making most of it work in SCCT minus the multi cam use. I couldn't get it to work at all in SC1.

Know that I am not the one to ask about configuring the win 10 controller, I had S.I.L. do SCCT for me using "Joy To Key".

Regarding SC1, I did make it by ... barely, but well enough with tonza practice to pull off the videos I made. But my movements are herky-jerky with time gaps between moves, (having to look at keyboard to set fingers).

Maybe my imagination but it seemed like there was a time lag between key pushes and actions of Sam which was also off putting but learned to ignore

Doesn't it work it in big picture mode?

Playing it with mouse and keyboard is way easier. The mission where you have to defend the hostages in the Abattoir, for example, is super easy with mouse because you can easily snipe every soldier in the head as they come in. Much much harder battle with a controller.

Dont care about shooting mechanics as much as stealth in this game honestly. Controlling the speed with the wheel is just unpractical for me.

Seems really easy to me. Scroll up for faster speed, scroll down for slower speed. Simple.

Most of the time, you're going to be completely hidden in the shadows in this game, so it doesn't matter if you spend a split second to scroll up or down before moving.

Glad it works for you! It's unpractical for me. I don't know why it seems hard for the PC community to accept the fact that not everyone worships mouse/keyboard controls lol.

Impractical. Not unpractical.

This game was also made before the Xbox 360 controller was standardized as the controller for PC games. That's why it relies on keyboard and mouse. And I've already explained why people like keyboard and mouse controls, it makes shooting much much easier. That Abattoir mission is really hard without a mouse because you can't make precision headshots to kill the soldiers coming to kill the hostages. It's very easy and fluid with a mouse, but quite difficult with a controller.

It does not matter if (any) game have or not have controller support because through Steam basically EVERY game can be mapped to suit for controller.

It may take time and nerves to find bindings what suits to player because everyone prefer different mappings.

To put this in simple format... if game has no controller support then just map keyboard&mouse inputs to controller.

For SCCT, my S.I.L. was eventually able to get the win 10 controller to work for multiple, (simultaneous) cams for Bath house but it took 2 extra button pushes for every cam switch let alone a cam action, (noise) which is confusing compared to the OG X default config.

As Delta points out the the newer controllers are set up different than the OG X, they may both have the same number of pushable buttons but they're not in the same places and don't provide the same actions. This defeats the (from over a decade of SC gameplay) acquired muscle memory reflex completely. I never had to think about which button to press for any action let alone where they were.

While playing Steam's SCCT with the win 10 controller, my fingers automatically went for the small "Black and White" buttons lower right of the controller or the "Back and Start" buttons that weren't there.

I'm curious as all hell on how the series X will handle the multi cam access and switching procedure.

Also hoping more of my OG X games will make their way to the series X, also hoping the availability issues, (and original sale price) will be solved by this fall along with console problems I've read that many have with connections, overheating, clicking noises, disc drive issues, stuck discs and not recognizing them

Thanks for the correction. Don't care about the shooting mechanics at all, as you only really need it in some parts of the game. It worked just fine on the Xbox release. Obviously shooting mechanics are better on mouse. The game however is 99% stealth (at least for me, I always played it having as little casualties as possible). I don't like m/kb, seems to me you're trying hard to convince me. You wont.

You can't just map the entire game yourself. How will you map mouse x,y,z movement on a controller? If the game has no real controller support, you cant just implement it.
