When I first bought the steam PC version of the game and played, all my familiar hides were still good. But when I got to Abattoir I discovered the search/flood lights, albeit lit, didn't reflect their footprint on the ground or buildings, (same thing in Pres Palace). Someone directed me to a fix in launch options and that worked. Also all hides still good.
Later I also installed the widescreen fix and PS3 textures at the beginning of Abattoir and most of my hides were still good but missing in other places in other missions .
As you pointed out the area is dark to the eye but the light meter and Sam are lit up with light and lead.
I'm wondering if it may not be a video driver or DX issue
just because ur a noob doesn't mean this game sucks and u haven't even applied all the shadows fixes properly and complaining about being getting detected .
nothing is more funny than some cry baby trying to grab some attention , shedding his salty tears on a discussion forum trying to convince everyone that his opinion on a certain game matters
yeah i can see who is a little one , reviewing the game on discussion forum trying to gain attention lol
He's kinda right, though. I've been playing SC 1 for the first time ever after having beaten CT multiple times over 15 years, and I haven't experienced the visibility meter problem once. Never had a situation where I'm in total darkness where the visibility meter shoots up suddenly. So I'm thinking you didn't apply the fix properly, if at all. One example that I've seen in the forums that stands out to me is in the second mission, in the streets, there's a short wooden tunnel that's completely dark with a guard inside, except that it should be lit by godrays shining through the holes in its ceiling.
Agreed with everything else though, CT and SC are just not on the same level. I think Abattoir is the worst level in the franchise by far, and I've played Conviction's Iraq level.
Oh, I wasn't aware of any DLC missions.
There're bunches of lighting issues all over the place, I for the most part I found other hides or tactics to survive the game
My example in Vselka Infiltration, (inside 1st building) where I currently take cover, meter says exposed, I should be vented by BG walking directly at me, then stops, turns and stands 2-3 feet away.
