You're used to playing the 2001 Xbox version and all your usual hides are still dark to the eye but your light meter is full or near full bright.
When I began playing the steam version, (prior to the addons) the light was messed up, (flood/searchlights) were lit up but not reflecting off the ground making Abattoir and Pres Palace nearly impossible to play.
There is a fix that works for the above at that point seems all my hides still worked. The widescreen and texture fixes were installed after the mission 6 vid. 2 of the19 hides from the Abattoir to Pres Palace didn't work and I'm finding more in the 3 xpacs.
Something gets messed up with the widescreen and textures fix but I was able to adjust.
JMO,
I didn't like all the messages pointing out what to do and where to go and what to pick up in Blacklist, seemed like the game treated the player like he/she wasn't clever enough to figure out on their own.
I didn't care for all the cut scenes/FMVs, (whatever you call them) seemed more like watching a movie than playing a game.
I prefer making the decisions on how and where to do what and when.
I feel that SCCT allowed me to be the sneakiest sneak possible.
