Yep, tried all this with no luck at all. No matter what I try I always get that error message. It's a shame because every single other game in the series works flawlessly.
It DOES depend on having the original game data - it's not a torrent site - but means that PCs without disc drives (like my Alienware Alpha) can play a variety of legacy games without issue.
SC:PT patch v 1.01 is the one I used, works like a charm on Win10 with the widescreen mods, shadows fix, controller setup etc.
This is sickening. You find a fix and you don't even post a link for others. How am I supposed to know where to find this safe fix for my game that won't load the Single Player mode? Its a disc copy.
I'm really sorry, but it's been so long since I fixed it that I couldn't possibly say it. Your best bet is to use the PCGamingWiki page and grab all the fixes there. From what I've seen they've updated it quite a bit from the last time I visited.
Other than that though, you'd probably be better off playing the OG Xbox version or even the PS3 port if they're available to you. Sorry about that.
