Problems with Windows 10?
I've been watching the show 24 lately, and thought, "Hey it would be fun to play through the whole Splinter Cell series since the main character is kinda like the guy on 24."

I have this game and Pandora Tomorrow on discs as part of the Espionage Pack.

I installed the game (Win 10 wouldn't let it install DX9), but when launching, NOTHING HAPPENS. Nothing at all. I d'loaded a DirectX redistributable from Microsoft and it installed DX9, but still nothing happens.

I've Googled and even chatted with Ubisoft a couple of times, all to no avail. Am I the only one with this problem?

Does the Steam version work on Win10? If so, I wonder what they did to get it to work.

Posting this for posterity I guess...

I got it working. Not sure what finally got it to work, or if it was a combination of things but:

-WinXPSP3 compatibility

-Run as admin

-dgvoodoo wrappers

-DX9 redistributables

-The 1.3 patch - which installs so UNintuitively (and no instructions), I never would have figured it out without finding the info on another site
**Here is how to run the 1.3 patch: There is a folder named "DVD Patch 1" copy the SplinterCell.exe file from it and paste it in C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Splinter Cell\system then install the patch..after the installation take the SplinterCell.exe file in the folder "DVD Patch 2" and paste it in the C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Splinter Cell\system again.

-Use ThirteenAG's Widescreen Fix

-And a crapload of frustration and persistence.

Anyway after all that, it worked. Then I installed the hi-res textures.

It's not perfect - rendered cutscenes are 640x480 and in-game cutscenese have strange black bars on the top and bottom in the middle of the screen. There are strange graphics that I think are supposed to be part of the HUD on the side of the screen - probably a casualty of going widescreen.

Otherwise, it looks great and still plays!

Where is the "DVD Patch 1" and "DVD Patch 2" folders?

Not sure how it was back in the before times, but if it's anything like it is now, then it'd be in the root directory of the folder.
