How does giving cats up to new owners for Adoption work?

I understand the player can take Noteboard requests to give cats up for adoption, but I do not understand how it works.
Also is the player unable to find the cats they give away ever again?
I noticed I gave a cat to a Vagabond using the Notebook and I am unable to acquire that cat via Lures now...
I also got an almost non-existent reward, in spite of the cat having skill points towards Vagabonds...
How are rewards decided? And how do I get a cat of that type a second time?

I'm pretty sure it's just a kind and gentle way of getting rid of cats who have traits you don't need or who are not contributing much to your cafe to make room for better cat "employees." I don't think you are meant to get them back again. They went to their "forever home," after all.

I'm wondering the same thing. If I eventually give all my cats away to a forever home, does the game just...end?

Yes, the ending of the game says to start another cafe to start fresh. The points match up to the skill level, so Vagabond 1-4 gives 100, but 16+ gives 1000.
