How to play?

I don't actually understand how to play? Customers come in, sit down and display their wants above their heads. I click on them and click on them and nothing happens. Eventually, with some random clicking, I got two pretzels to "fill up" but I don't have pretzels on the menu so they aren't satisfied. I have some customers who want water but cannot get any of them water. I click on the customer, on the sink, all over the place but nothing happens. How do I actually get them water? Same thing happens with dirt on the floor. It's there, says it needs a broom, but I can't figure out how to actually do anything with it. What am I missing?

You're supposed to hold down the left mouse button for everything lol, rather than just click on things.

Yeah, maybe that wasn't clear in my original post, I've tried clicking and holding on everything as well. I did get it to work for the pretzels by clicking and holding, I'm just not able to find the hit boxes for anything else (even other pretzels).

Don't feel dumb. I had to come here and read this post to figure out how to do anything too.

Mm remember to use AWSD to move and QE rotates items when you place them :)
