Report a translation problem
As far as I can see, we've not had any reports that the LAN functions had been experiencing problems. Can you tell me what steps you've been taking on the host and client machines? It'd also be really useful to see some screenshots of how it looks on each machine - here's our screenshots guide[ubi.li] to help with that.
With this information, we'll be better able to see where it seems to be going wrong
- Ubisoft Support
I'm not sure exactly what screenshots you need, but here are a couple[imgur.com].
On my machine (host) I am creating a LAN match, with the settings seen in the first screenshot and then click the launch game button. On the client machine, he selects LAN and does not see any matches available. And I know we are on the same network because we are both using a wired connection.
Do you know if there are any specific firewall or network settings that may need to be changed for the game?
- Disable the Firewall on both systems. If youre using Windows Defender you can turn it off with the following steps:
1.) Win+R --> Enter "wf.msc" --> Press Enter
2.) Select "Properties" in the right pane and turn the Firewall off
3.) Try your LAN game again.
If it works now add rules for the game to the firewall or open up the ports in general:
TCP: 80, 3074
UDP 3074 - 3174
If it's still not working, check that both of you have an valid IP address:
1.) Win-R --> CMD.exe --> ipconfig
2.) Check the IPv4 address. Mostly it is something like 192.168.XXX.XXX
If the IP address starts with 169.254.XXX.XXX the IP address is invalid and you don't have an DHCP server in your network (or it is not working). If so, set an manual ip address. For example: 192.168.1.10 and your friend 192.168.1.11.
Thanks for the help, but sadly this did not work. We disabled the firewall on both our machines, the match still did not show. We also confirmed our IP addresses are valid.
I will point out that we've been able to play LAN in other games, such as Ghost Recon (2001) and Rainbow Six 3, but for some reason Vegas does not work.
Hey Mr.Robertman,
Thanks for the update.
Rather than disabling your firewall, did you try port forwarding for the game as suggested above too?
- Ubisoft Support
We tried opening the ports but still no luck.
Sorry to hear it's still not working.
Are you using any additional software?
Such as Hamachi?
Or do you have any additional firewall protection running (such as an antivirus other than just Windows Defender / Windows Firewall)?
- Ubisoft Support
We're not using any software like Hamachi. We do have an additional antivirus on one of the machines, but we've tried with it disabled already (which did not fix the issue).
Have you tried disabling an antivirus? I was able to get the original game working by disabling my anti-virus.
We've tried with disabling anti-virus, but we didn't try disabling Windows Defender. When you had yours working, did you disable Windows Defender? Or just an additional anti-virus?
