There should be an upgrade to unlock them, but maybe you can not afford it yet.

Sounds like you're talking about the Astral Ascension upgrade to permanently unlock the gloves, in which case you might not have reached the point of having it available. Also be aware that's one of the upgrades that you need to buy and then ultra-ascend to activate.
