Even more spoiler for you:
There is an upgraded boss fight version of him, that can, when unlocked and activated, replace bonus levels. That one drops a ring for your equipment
i really dont like that fight
Don't ever jump when he's attacking from the air, only when he's on the ground firing at you. Constantly blast arrows when you do jump. When you get to his phase2 literally just watch his hands, if his hand is low he is going to first the flame blast, if not it's a normal shot. He can literally only do those 2 attacks. Make sure you never use wave dash with him, only regular boost. You'll kill him so fast after a couple times of practise you will wonder why you ever got frusterated with him.
I had a lot of problems with it too, and only did it once for story purposes. Quite certainly not what I am looking for in a game, that (incorrectly) describes itself as idle. Drag yourself through it; at some point there will be enough mix of practice and dumb luck to get the job done.
Last year, there was a special crossover event with Shovel Knight, which had an even much worse boss fight in it (bow disabled, less predictable patterns, and for the last quarter, the screen was blacked out).
