New player: which slayer upgrades to prioritize?
As stated, I recently started playing and am wondering if there are any slayer upgrades I should focus on getting to first. I grabbed the starter ones that seemed like no brainers, but am curious if it's correct to focus in on increased soul gain and CpS. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

Well, cps will get you the short-term upgrades, while souls will get you through the ascendancy tree, so they're definitely both important. Some nodes are useful QoL - such as portal identification or bonus stage gap-fillers, but at some point you'll ultra-ascend and reset the whole thing anyway, so... It'll vary depending on your priorities and preferences.

Originally I focused on getting the Slayer Points upgrades because I thought that would net me more SP over time, but actually, after progressing through the game, it's all about CPS. Maximise that and you'll be able to buy loads of in-run upgrades that provide bonus to SP allowing you to get more SP faster.

Remember, that you can barely do anything wrong in the early stages, and later into the game, mistakes are fixable too, so don't put yourself under pressure.
Something, you should rather consider, is that this game is meant to last quite a while. There is still a bunch of features coming towards you, that you don't know yet, and I can tell you, after a year you will likely still not have reached the endgame. Hope, you got that patience.

There's a lot to tell, but I wouldn't know right away where to start. It has been a while, since I started, so things have blurred a little into each other for me. Whenever you got specific questions, just come back here.

Other than that, you might have already noticed, that the biggest flaw of the game is its name. This game is definitely not "idle", as running it in the background is likely the least efficient way to play it.

Good stuff to note, thanks all.

Very useful information here. Played for a little over an hour or so offline / online, and found this relevant. Thanks

If you have the patience though, you can lean into offline and mostly just being online to complete quests. Not to argue the efficiency point, but for those of us willing to take longer with a game that we can put an hour (or less) into each day, it's an option.

I kinda noticed that, the exceptions being achievements like collecting rubies and completing bonus stages, etc?

A bit later there's a divinity upgrade that guarantees your first special box after 8 hours will be a bonus stage box, which means you can do one at the start and one at the end of the day with the game offline in between. Since special stages can also be great for doing the coin and gem collecting quests fast (particularly once you get the upgrades to increase the rows of rewards, and while if you get a gem bonus and you're after coins it's still a bit frustrating, there's ascendancy skills later on that can fix this - I'm not quite there yet), and will also give you one count of sprinting for each section if you have the 'sprint x times' quest (not much, but it's a synergy) as well as special boxes depending on your upgrades, they end up being less of a pain (imo) than the rage quests (once you have rage mode unlocked).

Oh that's also useful to know, thank you!
