Tips and Tricks - share yours!

I've been playing for 12 days so far and am very much loving this game. In that time, there are a few things I've figured out that I think might help others:

1. Do not delete inactive friends until you have all 16 friend slots filled up! I'm at 10 friends right now, waiting for friend number 11 so I can get the achievement reward for it. I would have had that achievement by now if I hadn't deleted 2 long-inactive friends a few days ago.

2. Breeding - unless you're spending diamonds to open up more breeding slots (you start with 2), you do not need more than 2 shelters per enclosure type! I currently have 6 grassland enclosures, and I bought a shelter for each one at 6000 gold each. This was before I knew that some animals require you to level up your shelter (which costs gold) in order to breed them. So long as you have 2 level 3 shelters for each enclosure type, you can breed everything. Then it's just a matter of moving the shelters between exhibits when needed.

3. Unless you're spending real money on diamonds, definitely hoard the ones given to you by the game for leveling up! Do not spend them on speed ups or trade them for gold! There are several quests that require the purchase of a building with diamonds to complete, so every diamond you keep counts.

4. Building on the diamond hoarding recommendation above, avoid using diamonds to buy animals and enclosure decorations if you can! A lot of diamond-only animals are given as part of quest rewards. Also, if you're patient, chances are good you'll end up getting all of the puzzle pieces needed to get a diamond-only animal or enclosure decoration. And if you don't get all the pieces needed, all you need is one piece and then to scrap pieces for items you can buy with gold to get the tickets for completing puzzle sets for diamond-only things.
