Far Cry (the first one) won't launch on either of my computers... is it incompatible with windows 7? [solved]

[thread removed, i figured it out, fix i discovered below]

here's how to fix the black screen on launch bug: go into the farcry config, it's one of the 2 options given when you try to launch the game from your library. go into the advanced graphic settings and if your lighting quality is on ultra high, change it to just high, and it should launch.

changing the compatibility mode to an older version of windows on farcry.exe doesn't help. it no longer gives me the black screen, but instead gives me a message saying "unable to start - unknown error" from steam.

desculpa para a má gramática, eu usei um tradutor para que eu pudesse responder em seu idioma.

Eu encontrei uma solução para o problema que não vai deixá-lo lançar. ir para a configuração FarCry, é uma das duas opções dadas quando você tenta iniciar o jogo a partir de sua biblioteca. ir para as configurações avançadas de gráficos e se a sua qualidade de iluminação está em ultra alta, mude para alta, e deve lançar.

Actually just lighting quality to high will improve that issue. All other settings can be at very high.

Hi , when I Click on play game. there are 4 options. one to play game , one for benchmark , one for map editor and the last one is for dedicated server, what exactly do I have to do ?
