Far Cry Classic?
Release Date: February 13, 2014

Does anybody have details on what exactly this is? And will it be available on Steam?

It is the version of Far Cry that is already on steam. The Xbox never revieved PC treatment; Far Cry: Instincts was the game they released for the xbox instead of the original PC version.

Are you sure? Because it says Far Cry Classic is also being released for PC.

"Alongside this, Ubisoft has also revealed Far Cry Classic will be available as a digital standalone title on XBLA and PSN a couple of days earlier on February 12 at £7.99."

it's Far Cry redone in HD. Not sure if it's still using Cryengine 1 or what, but am waiting for some more details and screenys to surface.

Are you sure? Because it says Far Cry Classic is also being released for PC.

Where u got that info that this also be released on PC ? For what i know its only be available on console...

So from my understanding of the article above, they are releasing far cry classic only in EU?

I believe that the Wild Expeditions for PC contains the original Far Cry instead of the "HD Far Cry Classic". Bah, not a loss really, the PC version of Far Cry is good enough.

Far Cry Classic is a definite upgrade. Taken from the official ubi Far Cry site:

"This HD revamp features stunningly realistic foliage, real-time day and night cycles, drivable underwater and flying vehicles which you can commandeer, and more..."

I coincidentally started playing Far Cry 1 for the first time over the weekend just before the announcement, and I was definitely offput by the low-level of detail in the distance and the jarring way that far-away foliage morphed quickly into view....surely these problems will have been addressed for a 2014 re-release.

So since this is on consoles I assume it can only display 30fps then?

I think it can do 60 since it's not that graphically intensive, but i'm not sure about 1080p

The PC version still looks much, much better.
Now, if they would offer a PC version with native widescreen support. And one that the water reflections have been fixed on modern hardware (as now, they only reflect trees and foilage, leaving the land itself... gone)... then that would be great.

and native controller support. I would buy that game again in an instant.
