Far Cry

Far Cry

Icon on desktop has a shield over it
The icon on my desktop for Far Cry 1 is a white square (look like a Win XP window) with a shield over it. However, when I go to the .exe file in my Program Files, the icon is fine (it's a pic of a man). How do I fix the icon on my desktop? It's bugging the crap out of me. I'm running Windows 7. It seems like it has something to do with administrator access, but I'm the administrator, so I don't know what's up with that.

I should add that I bought it at GamersGate as part of the Far Cry Collection bundle. Far Cry and Far Cry 2 have the stupid Tages DRM, or I would just launch those games through Uplay. Since I can't, I want to have an icon for Far Cry on my desktop so that I don't forget that I have it.

if right-click on the icon and go into settings there is an option to change the icon symbol, there you search and choose the icon you mentioned.

Tried that, there are two options, and both of them look like white Windows XP windows.

Ok, I created my own icon and used that. But, there is still the issue of the shield that Win 7 is placing over it. I don't know how to get rid of that.

You are not the administrator on the local machine......your user is only in the administrators group. Turn off UAC and see if the shield goes away.

How do I make myself the administrator? Also, I think the reason UAC is popping up is because the game is "from an unknown publisher". Might there be some way to plug in the publisher info so that UAC doesn't freak out anymore?
