eh? all you have to do is download 1.41 (see the link I provided). It downloaded as a Zip folder for me. Simply drag and drop the contents of that folder to your desktop. then double click the program.

The program should open up saying "welcome to the doc's unofficial far cry patch 1.41 install program". Follow the on screen instructions, But make sure you change the install location to your steam/steamapps/common//farcry. It's as simple as that.

You will know its worked because when you open up the game, at the top right of the main menu it will say "V1.41". You dont have to go into the mods menu or anything like that.

Dam, I've had nothing but trouble lately with this game. i blame steam for screwing it up. i finally got the 1.41 patch to run it's installer to the correct directory, ( i know it by heart by now...lol,) but it says v.1.40 on the main screen, AND in the mods screen.

So I tried to run it's uninstaller, says it's gone, but it remains. I had to delete the thing. I have been playing this game for years, since it came out. I've finished it every time. Back before i got it through steam, i had to install patches 1.30-1.31 and 1.32 in succesion.

And the game never gave me any problems. Ran everything on very high except water and textures, they were on high. I've installed, re-installed the dam game trying these different patches, and they don't work for me.

So i just went back to the old patches and everything is good again. I thank all who hepled me, but steam. I can't even access the steam community when i run the game. I checked my overclock and it's still stable. I don't know why the game acts the way it does, but like i said, i blame steam, cuz i never had problems using the cd's to install.

well, now the system freezes black screen with a small pic of far cry showing it's patched to 1.32, i gotta pres c-alt-delete to get to controls to exit game and shut down or restart...hahaha. but I'm playing right now and learned how to access the steam community, shift-tab.

Guess I'm just an old dog that can learn new tricks. things have changed since i was new to steam.

Lower lighting quality a notch. It will freeze your game when set at max.

I wonder if all my problems with patches are because steam already patched it to 1.4. I never had any problems installing from cd, and patching myself, using 1.3, 1.31 then 1.32...The lowest my framerate went was around 30fps, and that was in volcano level.

That's the most intense level for graphics. And that was years ago, on a much lesser (self-built) system. Everything on very high except water...(on high) I never had any problems like I've been having using the steam version.

turns out that there aren't any extra missions or anything; only that the advantage of running 64-bit has is a VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT FACT: it is version 1.32, and with 1.4 (the default Stream shortcut runs 32-bit) the A.I. will kill u faster than the best haker ever.

so do like my previous post says:

"v1.32 is installed by default. just launch the 64-bit FarCry.exe. (Make ur own shortcut to it on ur desktop and/ or if u want to launch in Steam add a non-Steam game in Steam that points to the 64-bit FarCry.exe.)"

by doing ^^ u can enjoy the game like it was meant to be enjoyed.

maybe the joke is that running it at 64-bit, which is version 1.32, is perfectly fine, but that running 32-bit SUKS!!! (Because running 32-bit, version 1.4, the A.I. glitch- it causes A.I. to see threw everything. and kill u fast. all of the bad enemy in the game will see u and attack so bad that the game is ruined. because FC was meant to be Rambo style yet very Stealthy at times. :)

and yes, modify ur .CFG file for best looking game. the difference is insane!

Thanks Zombie..i somehow saw all of that and all is good now. I played it again, and it worked great, just like old times before steam messed it up.
