and here: http://farcry.filefront.com/file/Far_Cry_AMD_64bit_Exclusive_Content_Addon;41673
i tried to run the game after adding the non steam game shortcut but the game was very messed up graphically, one time it was all black w/ a few lines of colors, one time it was all white/black, another time it was all types of colors.
how am i having so much trouble with this? are the patches i linked to above to correct files?
I downloaded the AMD 64bit upgrade and the Exclusive Content and it's working alright for me. The installers for both assume you're installing to the original retail install path, which isn't correct, so you need to change that to your Steam/steamapps/common/FarCry folder in order for them to install properly. I played thru the beginning and the only graphical issue I noticed was a slight halo around the edge of the screen which is odd and I'm not sure why it's there but it may be because I have everything set to very high settings.
Update: Turns out the ingame AA was causing the halo effect. 4x was very noticable, 2x much less so, no AA and the halo was gone. Forcing AA on in my Nivida drivers gave me AA without the halo effect so if you have that problem, there's a solution.
Far Cry 2, 3 and Blood Dragon are 32-bit games just like Far Cry 1, but 64-bit CPUs were widespread by the time they were released. I suppose there could be some additional features and/or optimization that a 64-bit patch might add to the game, but I am not a developer, so I really couldn't know.
And lastly, Far Cry 4 requires a 64-bit CPU and OS to run as the game doesn't ship with a 32-bit executable.
It seems odd that 64 bit features were developed for the 1st Far Cry game, but not for any of the sequels until Far Cry 4. It only makes sense that as the base requirements for each game went up, more people would adopt newer hardware, and more people would therefore have 64 bit CPUs and operating systems.
I have only played Crysis 1 & 2, but as far as I know, Crysis 1 is the only game in the series that featured a 64 bit executible. Weird.
Можно и без него играть конечно, но с ним приятней.
My SteamApps\common\farcry shows only Bin 32! Please advise. I can't seem to find Bin64!
You don't NEED the 64-bit patch to run the game; it's just an optional executible for getting enhanced visuals from a 64-bit processor. If you want to play the game in 64-bit mode, you must have a 64-bit OS (that should be standard issue these days) and then download the 64-bit patch as well as content for the 64-bit patch.
