Far Cry

Far Cry

FCAM/Update 1.4 (Ubisoft)/etc.
So, I tried playing Far Cry yesterday for the first time. I'm actually enjoying it, but the problem was that I kept getting shot through walls, so I was looking for a way to fix this. I saw FCAM (Far Cry Addon Mod) mentioned, and figured I'd give it a try. Then I also saw people mentioning an update they downloaded manually from Ubisoft's website called update 1.4.

Should I download update 1.4 first, then install FCAM, or just install FCAM by itself? Does update 1.4 fix being shot through walls, and remove the need for FCAM? Thanks!

Alright, so I installed FCAM, and I'm no longer being shot through walls. It's great. But now there are no savegames. Like, when I play with the mod, the saves are not there next time I load the game. Anyone know anything about this?

I just installed fcam in the steamapps/farcry folder. Im not sure if I installed it correctly, because I dont see any extra options or features in the main menu at all. Is there a way to enable it, or just by installing it theres nothing else to be done?

I think if you downloaded from steam, you need to manually make a "Mods" folder in the /farcry folder. That's what I had to do, because there wasn't one there.

Once you install in to the "Mods" folder, you then launch the game. From the main menu, select "Mods", select FCAM, and the game will ask you if you want to relaunch. Select yes, and you will be running FCAM.

I forgot to mention, you're going to have to do that every time you launch Far Cry. It's not a one-time thing.

Thanks man, that was really helpful. I havent noticed a huge change in the graphics but the ads and quicksave are great additions. I will see if I get any saving problems later.

Yup. It's also very helpful when enemies can't aimbot you through walls. That was the big thing I noticed, haha.

Im using the GOG (Good Old Games) version of Far Cry, I installed FCAM to the GOG/Far Cry folder and Im using the FCAM shortcut on my desktop (pop up window menu with 4 buttons and check boxes with 32 bit and 64 bit on the bottom) but none of the buttons work, either for 32 bit or 64 bit (I have windows 8.1 64 bit) what am I doing wrong?

Not sure, honestly. Did you make a "Mods" folder in the Far Cry folder? Have you tried launching FCAM without the shortcut? Are you sure you've downloaded the newest version?
Try the method I detailed above and see if it works.

the folder was made automatically during installation... either way for some reason it started working 5 minutes after I made that post... my issue now is that the game crashes at the end of the 'Fort' level, the cut scene starts with the satellite dish blowing up then the game crashes to the desktop...

Haven't gotten that far in the game yet, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Are you sure the mod is running while you're playing? I have to start it manually from the main menu every time I launch Far Cry.

im not using the original game launcher, Im using the fcam launcher (D:\GOG Games\Far Cry\Mods\FCAM\FCAM.exe) which gives me 4 buttons (Launch FCAM Far Cry, Launch FCAM Far Cry Dev Mode, Launch FCAM Editor, Launch FCAM Server) with 2 check boxes underneath (32 bit and 64 bit)

i have no idea, man. Why not use the game launcher and try and launch FCAM from the in-game mods menu? Worth a try if nothing else is working, no?
It was the same situation for me, being targeted and shot through walls, and discovered the same FCAM solution posted to these forums.

I just pointed to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FarCry" and noticed the FCAM installer added "\Mods" to the end of the path.

Make sure the path is correct, even after navigating.
The first time I tried, the installer was pointing to a "C:\Users"-based path.
I don't know if I made a wrong click somewhere, but I'm simply posting this as a warning for others to check the correct path gets listed in the field before proceeding with the installation.
